Question about Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Pictures won't upload onto camera

I have a canon powershot A570. I've taken some pictures and downloaded them onto my computer and then immediately afterwards tried to upload some of them back onto the camera, but the camera refuses to do so. I keep getting a message saying "blahblah is an image not taken with a Canon camera or was edited after being taken. This image cannot be viewed in the camera window."

I'm only able to upload the images after choosing the option "send after changing the image to VGA size 640X480 dots", which is such a pathetic resolution size that it's not worth printing a picture for. I've looked through the camera user guide and the pdf file "ZoomBrowser EX Software User Guide", but I couldn't find a solution in either guides.

Interestingly, I've found that the images that have this problem are the ones that were taken vertically and not horizontally.

Any solutions? Ideas? I'd very much appreciate it?

I would seek professional advice, there is recovery software out there that are very good, you have tried two, if there is any chance to recover more you need to talk to someone that is experienced in these matters. Best buys may be able to help and worth a try, a camera repair store would be another option.

Where can i download the software to upload pictures from my canon powershot a570is

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto, Windows Photo Gallery, or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
