For those with the 4 GB model, try removing the SD card and powering completely off, without selecting any of the recovery options.  You will probably get prompted to recover when the device boots, click OK to recover - do not reinsert the SD card.  Perform a complete power off and power on cycle without the SD card.  If this works, reinsert the SD card and perform a power off/power on cycle.  If it prompts you to recover the system, the SD card is bad (the data can probably be read by the device after it has restarted, but will continue to cause the recovery mode).  Note that reformatting the card in the device does not seem to resolve the issue.  Try reformatting the card in a PC or digital camera (this option worked for me).

I got a ipod a1199 and the whole thing is locked and nothing works but the screen is still on. what do i do is there a hidden reset button or something how do i fix this thanx

Perform a full restore of your iPod. Remember that the restore process deletes everything in your iPod-like your music, videos, photos...-. <br> 1. The first thing is to connect your iPod in recovery mode to the computer. Turn off you ipod. Before placing the iPod into recovery, you should verify that it is charged. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 8 seconds until the Apple logo appears. After the Apple logo appear, you can release the buttons. <br> 2. Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and display "Do not disconnect". <br>
3. Open itunes. Itunes will display a message of a device connected in recovery mode. It should ask you automatically to start the restore process. If not, select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows. At he right part, click on the Restore button. <br> 4. You will have 4 restore options, select restore option number 2. A progress bar will appear to indicate you the state of the restore process. When It finishes, iPod will be as new

How do I fix my archos cause it shows recovery code 108

I think for this one, you can reload the firmware. Ihave had to remove the battery and reset. So if you do that, moe your files to another drive if possible as you woudl have to restore them after a reset. Try firm ware first.

Archos 605 wife (wife firmware)

If you chose any of these options already your Os is gone..
try this solution
I fixed my son's 605 4 GB had Recovery code (104) on it. This might work for other error codes too. These are the steps i followed
* Use the computer for this process that you always used for this archos Archos should be plugged in to Pc before starting the process.
* Download the firware Upgrade 2.1
* Plug the Archos to Pc
* When the white option screen comes up pick the format disk
* Wait until all done do not pick any option on archos after format is done Pc should recognize your archos in 5 seconds

* Put the firmware in root section of the archos not in any folder.
* Safely remove the usb for Archos from your pc first and then unplug the cable.
* Do not pick any option on the Archos screen
* Just turn it off from the power button by holding it until it turns off
* Wait about 5 minutes and plug it back to pc
* it will come up with white screen again but this time it will start Update you will see the progress bar moving, wait until it is all done, it will shut off. Turn it back on and  your archos will be back to normal

I need help plz email me asap thanx:)

You may want to check with Archos to see if they know the exact button that you need to press (sometimes it is "Record," sometimes it is "Play"), but every Mp3 player has a Recovery Method. The downside of all recovery methods is that they delete every file off the player, so you will have to reload them later. For 80% of players, the recovery method is this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
