Try to keep bolts as loose as possible (or just tight and no more). when you screw the chassis to the plastic, this bends creating stress on the board, so do the screws up but only loose.

Hello, it seems that you have a cooling problem of the video chip, just control the cooler (if the metal is just well fitted on the top of the video chip) or clean the cooler fun from dust!.
success!

Red flashing lights shown on the console when i put it on,

Three or two? or four? depending on the number the diagnosis varies.2 lights - cpu has overheated (needs new thermal paste on heatsink)3 light - "Red Rings of Death or RROD) gpu (graphics processing unit) has come off the mainrboard, this happens because the console heats up and the solder becomes fluid, moves, ands sets in  the wrong spot. This can be fixed by reflowing the solder and we usually reapply fresh thermal paste. Some people also have a new clamp system they put on the mainboard.4 lights - means the av cable is not plugged in correctly.Youll need a few things to fix it, this is an awesome sitehttp://rrodrepairguide.com/

Xbox 360 Console: error code 0102 for x box 360...

0102 unknown error
  • though it's most likely GPU related literally means the console does not know what is wrong. possibly a short or cold solder joint somewhere. So far there is 1 major theory for what causes most of these errors is that the Ram, CPU, or GPU are not soldered properly to the mother board due either to poor manufacturing or excessive heat up and cool down cycles that stress, weaken and eventually break the soldered connection.
There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced. I have also heard of limited success by simply switching the AV cable from "HDTV" mode to "TV" mode.

0102

Hi,
0102 Error in the "Digital Backbone" (CPU/GPU/RAM) is usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the mainboard.
There are two theories to fixing this. One deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call Microsoft to have it replaced.
Thank you!

Cose is 74

Disassemble the console. Reflow the GPU and the (H)ANA chips. Redo the thermal paste on the GPU. Some E74 errors can be stubborn and require more than one reflow.

Xbox 360 had 3ROD W/error code 0102 now its 0020

error code 0020 is a overheating error. You need to do the X-clamp fix. That should solve your problem.Did you use the Acrylic silver thermal paste?

Xbox 360 has 3ROD w/error code 0020. It used to be 0102

Open your Xbox again, remove the motherboard and take off the heat sinks.

Clean the heat sink compound off of the the CPU, GPU, and both heat sinks using 91% alcohol. The CPU & GPU should be as shiney as a mirror when your finished.

The next step is to apply Artic Silver 5 Thermal compound to both processors using just enough to cover the processors, then put your system back together again and give it a try.

If it still doesn't work you may want to try to find someone who knows how to do a reflow. If you go this route, becareful who you choose. Ask for referrals and most importantly, ask for a picture of the equipment they will use to "attempt" to fix your Xbox.

If you get a picture of a standard Heat Gun... find someone else.

Be aware that even after a reflow, your Xbox is still subject to failure again. Microsoft can't even fix them permanently.

You're already familiar with opening your Xbox and taking it apart so you may want to consider learning how to do a reflow yourself.

There's also the option of buying a new Xbox but there's a good chance you'll still be facing another failure in the future. the difference will be that the new Xbox will be covered under warranty for a period of time depending on the problem.

I've heard that new consoles with a Jasper cpu tend to be more reliable but I've not seen any scientific data to back up this claim.

Good luck, I'm in the same boat with 2 broken and have decided to buy a reflow station to repair my own instead of paying Microsoft.
