Www.insidemylaptop.com has tons of tutorials on repairing screens. You didn't describe the problem but my guess would be that it's a bad backlight or inverter, neither are terribly hard to repair. Just take your time and keep yourself grounded (with a wrist-wrap...wire with an alligator clip on one end that attaches to the metal frame of the laptop. Screens aren't that hard to get off in most cases, about four screws for the hinges and a guitar pick works good to pry apart the plastic snap-in pieces around the keyboard. Hope this helps.
Good luck

You don't need to remove the LCD display even if it is not working, provided the video card is OK to use the Toshiba without its display.
Just connect a monitor to the video port on the Toshiba, then power up the monitot then boot up the Toshiba. The video data should automatically switch to the external monitor.

Toshiba Satellite How to remove keyboard and upgrade memory modules. This post was written by cj2600 on April 28, 2006
Posted Under: Toshiba Satellite A20/A25 --> toshiba-satellite-a20-a25-memory.jpgRemoving and replacing memory on a Toshiba Satellite A20 or A25 notebook is not as easy ad it should be. Both memory modules are located under the keyboard. A laptop keyboard has to be replaced in order to get access to the memory modules. Before you remove the keyboard do not forget to remove the laptop battery or you can damage the laptop. Be careful when you remove the keyboard securing strip; do not bend it too much. To remove the memory module from the slot on the system board, release the latches on both sides and the memory module will pop up. It will stay at a 30 degree angle to the system board. Firmly grasp the memory module and remove it from the slot.

Your model of laptop is typical for the issue of the power plug. The plug can be soldered back on. As far as compatible memory you can call toshiba customer support and they probably could answer that question. there # is 1-800-457-7777
