Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Yesterday i updated my PC to Windows XP Home edition. When i go to device manager, there's a Yellow question mark next to "other devices" and under it it says "Video Controller VGA Compatible". none of my disks seem to have this driver. I dont know what it is or how to update it. What can i do? Also, now that i have installed XP Home ed, when i go on the internet, and scroll down, the page flickers, rather than scrolling down fast and sharp. what could be wrong? thank you!

Hi. Thanks for your question.
No reason to panic. You seem to be missing your VGA (Video) driver. You either need to find it on your CD's or go to manufactures website and download it from there. Once you get this done your video problems should stop.
Good Luck and please do not hesitate to ask for more advise if needed. If you provide us with your PC model will be able to give you website with your drivers. Thanks

No audio on my pc

Hello, you are missing the audio drivers. To update them you need to open device manager. For windows XP, right click on My Computer and click manage, and then click device manager. Find your audio drivers, they may have a yellow question mark next to them. Right click on them and click update. Tell it yes to search online. For windows vista or 7 click on start and type device manager and click on it. Then follow the same procedure.

Thanks for using FixYa!

There is no sound

To solve that problem you must check the following:

1. Check the device driver in your audio by clicking:
* right click my computer
* click properties
* device manager
If you can see missing drivers with a yellow question mark that's the missing device driver install the
driver for that device.

2. For other solutions you can use the software named Driver Checker it will check your PC devices and missing drivers and it will also download the missing drivers and updates.

No sound in windows xp

Go into the Control Panel and open the Sounds and Audio Devices applet. Make sure the box marked Mute is not checked. If it is, uncheck it and click OK.

If it's not checked, open the Device Manager and make sure there are no conflicts between any of your audio devices (speakers, headphones, etc.). If a device has a conflict you will see an exclamation point on a yellow triangle next to its name. If an audio device has a red X next to its name, that device has been disabled -- open its properties and re-enable it.

If you still don't have any sound, you may need to reinstall your audio drivers. Go to your PC manufacturer's web page and download the correct drivers for your machine.

Device driver flags

When you double click on the devices with the yellow exclamation mark what is the error or error code? You will probably have to update the drivers for these devices. What make of pc or motherboard do you have? You can usualy get updated drivers from the manufacturers website.

No sound on the PC

Go to the manufacturer of the pc and/or the soundcard, download the soundcard driver.
Goto the control panel - system - hardware - device
Look for any devices that have a red or yellow mark next to it. Uninstall the device and reboot. When the system detects the device, load the driver U downloaded. If U have more than one device with a red or yellow mark, download the drivers for those devices and repeat the above.
