Question about Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 Digital Camera

Minolta dimage f100

I've snapped off the plastic battery latch, stopping the battery compartment door from closing. It's a totally separate part, attached with a few screws, do you know where I can buy one? Or do you have any better ideas?

The NON-solution posted is to pay sony to fix any problem for a fix price of $181. Yeah right.

depending on the repair, find a unit on ebay and replace the door.

On ebay I saw one for a buy it now price of $76 and others to bid on.

Sorry, but the part does not seem to be available by itself, so far at least.

I'll update if I get through to Sony, live.

Hey dannystevens,
I have included a link that lists the manufacturers’ parts department phone#, and I would call them and they could probably sell you the battery latch. Sony now owns Minolta so the link I provided is to a Sony website. I hope this helps!

I have a Samsung SMH9187ST microwave, it is about 2 years old. The door won't stay closed. It is worthwhile to try to fix it or should I just replace it?

If you can lift the plastic door latch catches with no resistance, it is most likely the spring/plastic connector. I removed the door by lifting up, pulling the bottom forward, and lowering. I removed the inside black plastic bevel with a jewelers flat screw driver, prying from the latch side's external edge. Once it was started, I could pull it of with a gentle lift. I took out the black plastic latch, drilled a hole near the broken piece and all was good. Samsung is not on my radar for any future purchases. This is the 3rd major purchase that barely made it past warranty or not even thru warranty.

We broke the door handle on our Malber 1000 Can we order a new one and can we fix it ourselves?

Mike, in Washington D.C., again. Of course you can do it yourself. First call Joel (Malber in NY) at 800-600-8913 or 516-294-6660 . Tell him which model machine you need a door latch for (if you aren't sure, check label in rear). Once you've received your new latch assy (about $20): Open door, and notice white plastic "ring" around glass is actually 2 pieces (front and rear) snapped together - with a seam around periphery. Unsnap (separate) them by either getting your fingernails into the seam and pulling them apart - or prying them open with a spackle knife or thin screwdriver blade. Once it starts coming apart, just work the opening all the way around. Remove front "ring" and set aside. Using a 1.5mm Torx screwdriver, remove 2 small screws holding broken latch assy. Note the way the ends of the spring go under the 2 screws. That's the way it has to go back. Slip new latch assy into place, pressing vertical "hinge pin" and ends of spring into slots (near screw holes). Replace 2 screws. Test latch with door open - is it working? Try closing door. All good? Replace front "ring": Open door and, while pulling out on latch handle, slip the ring over the latch handle and get it into approximate position. Let go of latch (it snaps into "closed" position) and adjust ring so it doesn't bind the latch handle (meaning it's free to move). Now, beginning anywhere on outside edge, begin snapping rings together - and continue all the way around. Test that door latch still operates smoothly and that door latches shut properly. FYI: There is no adjustment for this latch assy - it just fits precisely where it's supposed to. Good luck and God Bless ...

The door that keeps the batteries and memory card will not stay closed. Can it be fixed?

Mine is broken also. There are 2 tabs in the cover and 2 raised slots on the camera body. When you open the battery compartment, you are supposed to slide the lid forward releasing the tabs from the slots, before the cover pops open. If you don't do this, you ~will~ break the tabs (or the raised slots). Well someone who didn't know this got a hold of my camera tried to force the compartment door open, breaking the raised slots that are part of the camera body.
Take a close look at yours and figure out how this latch is supposed to work and then see which part is broken. If it's the tabs on the door you can buy a replacement door online (do a search) and have someone good with electronics install it. (requires soldering). If (like me) it's the slots on the camera body that are broken, then it's not repairable. The original parts are too small and flimsy to be repaired (designed to fail). My best idea is to find some other way to latch the door closed. I've tried a velcro strap but it doesn't hold the lid tight enough and I've looked in hardware and craft stores for some kind of latch that might work, if I could atach it to the outside of the door somehow, but haven't found anything suitable (it would have to be small but sturdy and attach to the thin plastic of the door)
I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler because they work with very small parts and might have something that could be screwed into the plastic door and camera body.
If you know of a better fix, please let me know.

How can I chage the A/C filter on Accent 2007?

Remove the Phillips-head screws and the 10mm bolts that attach the glove box insert to the dash. Pull the release tabs on the glove box door travel stops and release the glove box door from the glove box. Slide the glove box insert out. Remove the lower dash trim panel on the passenger side of the dashboard.Remove the old HEPA filter by depressing the locking tabs on the filter cover located on the front of the plastic evaporator case located directly behind the glove box. Then slide the filter carefully, out and down, to prevent knocking the dust that has been captured by the filter into the evaporator case or onto the carpet.Install the new filter by sliding the new filter into the evaporator case. The new filter is labeled to indicate the direction it should be installed into the evaporator. Push it completely into the case, and close the cover until the latches snap into place.Reinstall the glove box insert and attach it to the dashboard using the original screws and bolts. Insert the door travel stops into their slots and push the door closed. The stops will automatically snap into place. Reinstall the lower dashboard trim to complete the project.

Door won't stay closed. Door latch seems loose or intermittently will open enough to stop the dryer.

Hi,

Dryer doors either have a combined switch, with a mechanical lock, or these two things are separate.
Whichever type you have, your description of the latch being loose is telling.
Part of the latch has either snapped off internally, and if so, it would be the part that was under the most pressure, due to having a spring or sprund element behind it, which should 'snap' the door shut.
If it has not broken, the two (possibly 4) mount screws that mount the latch to the door fascia have come loose
and this is why the mechanism is now unreliable.
These screws are only accessible from the interior, on the reverse side of the latch, next to the drum.
Whilst very easy to tighten, only a qualified electrician or service technician should access high voltage equipment..

Black plastic catch on door snapped off, need new part

Yes. That's the door latch.

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Canon s5 is it will not power up

OK, since I'm an engineer I couldnt resist the temptation to open up the beast for more than 5 minutes so I opened it up to see what's inside (I can't recommend this due to the small screws any tiny delicate connectors inside). Along the way I discovered and fixed the problem.

As is typical for broken appliances usually the primary method for succesful repair is: open, vacuum clean, close. And otherwise see what happens along the way.

What I found in my case is very simple: when I close the battery compartment latch you are supposed to hear two sort of "clicking" sounds. The first one is a obvious one which happens when the plastic of the lid snaps into the plastic latches on the camera body, it is a clearly audible plastic-on-plastic like clicking sound. The second clicking sound, which was the missing link to make my camera work, is a higher pitched, lower volume, metal spring like snapping sound. I don't know where that latch occurs but it only happens when I push the plastic lid all the way in even after it seems it is already fully secure. Without that second metal-like click my camera won't power on. I can reproduce the problem by closing the battery lid but not to the point of the second "click".

So my simple solution is, push or jam your battery lid all the way in until you hear the metal-spring like clicking sound. Worked for me, hopefully works for you too.

NEFF H5470NOGB Microwave door latch fault

theres a small plastic hook inside the door which holds a tension spring this will have snapped off stopping the latch from entering the lock its actually quite easy to fix the inner plastic frame can be unclipped with a small flat blade screwdriver exposing the hook mechanism and the spring will be lying in the bottom of the door frame you can reconnect it to the metal inner frame it stretches the spring a little more but it will never snap again ive done this loads of times with no probs otherwise you will have to replace the outer door to reinstate the broken hook.

Sharp Carousel Microwave door latch stopped working door won't stay closed

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.
