Sounds like the Power invertor in the screen is bad. assuming that you are using an LCD screen. try a friends monitor if thiers works then that is the problem. otherwise video card (or motherboard if onboard video is bad)you can search ebay for another inverter board they are not hard to replace. just be careful not to break tabs that hold plastic screen boarder. there are also several companies that will repair them for around $70. google LCD screen repair. if this is a CRT monitor just buy new one.

no problem. I misunderstood what exactly was happening. there are two things that could be wrong here. one is the cable is bad. have you tried obtaining another cable from where you purchased the security dvr? also make sure the ntsc/pal switch is set to ntsc if you are in US. also have you tried using the USB interface to ensure that it is in fact recording. if you do not know how to use the USB interface to connect using your desktop or laptop computer to view recorded content i would be more than happy to provide you with instructions. And as a last resort are you sure you are plugging the cable into the input on the monitor? try using a standard tv with AV inputs. it should be plugged into the yellow plug labelled video in.

Why does my Swann have no display?

If you checked all cable connections and made sure you monitor is set to the right input and working properly, if the dvr has multiple outputs try them all first. If none of that works it maybe the the video card on your unit is bad and may need replaced. Swann dvrs typically only last a couple years because the are garbage.

Why seiki 40 inch has gray screen no picture but has sound

It's possible the Monitor has failed, but here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.
Good luck.

Dell ST2210 suddenly will not power on. Tried different power cord, outlet, unplugging everything but the power cord and still nothing.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Hanns g hx191d no picture. My monitor went black while I was working, the green led is lit, I get a picture for a split second when I first turn on the computer or monitor.

Hello,

The most common cause of this type of display issues is a failure of the back light power supply. There are parts called capacitors that fail and this causes the power supply to not be able to put out the correct voltages to operate the monitor. You cn repair the monitor easily by replacing the bad capacitors on the power supply board. The old ones need to re desoldered and the new ones soldered back in place. You can get a kit of the proper capacitors to do the repair here:

L1932TQ Fails on Desktop, works on Notebook

it simply means that your cpu is not giving back signal to your monitor to process, in fact, it is a cpu problem that is why there is nothing to display in your monitor.

Your cpu froze because of that usb thing. the only way to unfreeze it is to manually reset your hardware in this order.

1. RAM modules. If you can unplug your RAM (memory modules) connected in your motherboard, please do it. Just unplug the modules and then plug it back in. if you have 2 rams, then interchange them when plugging it back. this will force your mobo to refresh its resources.

2. CPU. if you can pull out your cpu chip, then do it. this will refresh your cpu setting in your mobo. (mobo = motherboard)

Computer not recognizing moniter

Resolution set too high for display.

Attach TUBE monitor, Start Windows, change resolution to 1024x768 (MAX) and then hit APPLY/OK.

Also check refresh rate, it is listed in hertz (hz) in advanced settings. Should be 70-72khz not faster than either.

Shut down PC, Connect LCD, you should have a decent picture.
