Question about Avaya Definity 6408D Corded Phone

Moved user, need to change extension at new desk for avaya 2420 phone

Our phones are avaya 2420 phones, I moved one user from one office to another, how can I have that users original extension follow to the new office.

Have your system admin movethe extensions ports. You have a definity or S87xx series.....that is the only way.

You need to go into programming and move the 2 extensions in Manager.
Once moved in Manager, at each phone dial *36 to force the change.

Hi once the call is ringing in its hunt group at another extension there is no other way to retrieve that call , as the call already has visited your extension and is now on its way to another extension

The "Message" light is lit


Another person in your office could of mistakenly turn your message light on. To turn off your message light press feature 10 then your extension number (feature 10 xx).

The Intercomm Turns on by itself


There is nothing wrong with your phone. The person or persons calling you are doing a voice call.

Voice call basically pages the phone, to talk to you.

If you want to diasble this, you would need to take that button off the phones. There are other ways, but they involve more programming.

Need longer cord... none work


make sure that extension cord 2 pair copper or 4 conductor.
If your phone works from the jack using the correct extension cord is essential.

Avaya 4602 hands. Turn on message lamp when a message is waiting.


Do you know which system this phone is on? Is it an IP Office?

If so, chek the manager program and verify that under eachs users tab, ther is a "Vxxx" in the "trusted source" tab. Where "XXX is the extension number.

Change extension numbers


From the phone dial #66xxx (where xxx is the extension) to turn off that phone.
Then dial *66xxx (with the correct extension) to turn on that phone.
