My flash is not working. If I have it no a setting that uses flash, it will not take a picture, and the symbol for flash blinks on the screen. Other settings work, if no flash. Ideas?

Corrupted firmware. A firmware update is necessary. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Some Canon cameras use some of the screws around the perimeter of the camera to serve as a safety switch to prevent activation of the flash if the case is opened. See this article for more info.

I also saw that I was using the camera bymistakely in the twilight mode out in the sun. And since then I tried intitializing it but the Error E:91:01 and flash symbol wont stop blinking. And flash Seems to have stopped working. Please help me to solve this problem
Hey emeffem, What is most likely causing this is that the flash is set to off which would be symbolized by a lightening bolt sign crossed out. Directions on how to turn it back on are on page 13 of your camera manual. I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual in case you no longer have it. I hope this helps! http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/Stylus710Advanced_Manual.pdf Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
