Printing Business Cards on Cardstock

I'm trying to print business cards on 100lb Astropaque smooth finish cardstock, and the paper keeps jamming after pulling it partway into the printer. I tried changing the paper type in the "paper" options, but nothing worked. (I didn't see any selection for cardstock) Am I just using too heavy a cardstock for this printer?

Yes, the roller system will only open wide enough for semi thick cardstock. If you read through you're manual you'll find the recommended card stock you can use. HP supports HP paper.
Here is a list of supported HP paper.

See the user manual on page 45.
Papers to avoid when printing
It would not hurt to remove the rear door & clean the rollers. (No soap). Dried soap film will cause paper to stick to the rollers. You can go to Wallmart or a local hardware store & buy a bottle of Grease Lighting. This heavy duty cleaner (When dry), does not leave any soap film. Great for cleaning just about anything.
If you wish to download the user manual from HP (It's easer to see & find information faster. Just click on this link:

It could be.

Part of the problem with that machine is that it has to bend the paper to get to the inkjets. If its too think it will stop running.

We use this Avery stock for printing business cards that might be a little thinner cardstock. I would look for some recommended for ink jet printers.

When trying to print business cards they get stuck in the printer and wont move

Just a quick thought here. Check the paper thickness settings to see if you have a cardstock setting. Some printers need the paper thickness to be set to properly work. Also, when the sheet is printing, place you hand on the cardstock and see if you can help it along by pushing slightly. You may feel and see the obstruction. You can find additional information in the user manual under "Print on special and custom-sized media".

Why is my hp 5610v not printing on cardstock?

Are you print through manual bypass? If not try doing it that way. Card stock is very thick and by using manual bypass it doesn't require as many turns for the card stock.

Will not print evenly on cardstock business cards

This can be caused by the cardstock slipping to one side as it prints. Make sure when you print you are using the card stock settings found under your printer setup - paper type. Check to make sure that the paper you are usng is meant for your printer, most printers are meant for up to a certain pound of paper eg 120lbs. and going over this could mean that the paper is too heavy for your printer which causes the rollers to slip as it pulls the paper through your printer.

Paper is jamming when I print something

Were you able to remove all of the original jammed business cards? where the leading edge of the "Fanfold" prints occurs, you will probably find something blocking the paper path. HP printers usually have a limit on the paper weight that the printer can handle when doing duplex (2 sided) printing. Check this against the weight of the cards you are printing.

Paper too thick?

You will need to use the manual feed and insert the cardstock one page at a time. First look at the rear of the printer for a purple dial. Roll the dial downward. This will allow the printer to exit straight out the back of the machine. Allow enough room at the rear of the printer so the cardstock doesn't hit anything on the way out. Next look at the front of the machine at the **** just above the paper tray. You'll see an envelope icon. Align the cardstock when manual feeding one sheet at a time to the left side of the **** next to the envelope icon. When you hit "file, print" select MANUAL FEED in the print window.

The 4L will only do cardstock by one at a time in the way noted above as the feed system isn't strong enough to make the sharp bend coming out of the tray or in the back to bend it around and into the top tray.

Paper keeps jamming

To print card stock you must us the manual slot in the front of the printer and feed one at a time. Also open the back flap door so the card stock can exit out the back instead of trying to bend around for the try. That will give you the staight paper path that your thick stock needs.

Wont print continuously on Cardstock

The cardstock you are using might be to heavy or rough for the 2600n to use.

FOr this printer HP recommends paper no thicker than 0.18 mm (7.0 mils), and between 100 and 250 on the Sheffield "smoothness" scale.

More information on recommended paper weight and smoothness is available here:

Only prints business cards correctly on plain paper, but not on the card stock.

I am the guy with the hp d'jet D2445. I ran out of card stock in failed attempts. Not wanting to give up I bought more (Avery, no serrations) and it worked fine. Don't ask why.
