If the vent is clear, your heating element(if electric) or your ignition unit (if gas) is not working. You will need to have a professional take a look at it.

Heat will start for a few minutes then stop and dryer will continue to spin with cold air.

You must have a blockage in your vent line between back of dryer to the outside or a kinked vent hose or a blockage in your blower wheel cover.

Drum turns..no heat

I would check inside and see the blower itself it may have lint or debris obstructing it, see if u can turn it by hand another thing to check is for full 220 at the outlet and terminal cuz if u only get 110 u will be able to run motor but have no heat

Sometimes it will heat for a few minutes and then it won't heat up at all. Seems to be an intermittent problem

Remove the connecting exhaust vent for a test only.
Run a dryer cycle with the vent removed.
If it works, repair your vent blockage.
If the same occurs, check the blower wheel on the end of the motor to make sure it is not spinning loosely on the shaft.
Next observe the glowbar ignitor.
Is it coming on and cycling after every extenguish?
If it comes on and does not light, replace the gas valve coils.

It takes forever to dry a load of clothes. Drum

Hello,
Have you checked your vent for blockage? Over time, lint build-up in the vent and in the back of the dryer makes your drying time longer and longer. Unplug the dryer, pull it out and disconnect the vent. Using a flashlight and a vacuum, clean out the back of the dryer that connects to the vent and the vent itself. If you have a long vent line, you'll need to find a away to clean it out to clear any blockage. I use a hand-held plumbers snake that rolls up and pulls out as much length as needed. Then spin it around in the vent to knock off lint attached inside the vent tube walls. It may be easier to do this from the outside, but you can do it from the inside too. Check your outside vent cap for blockage and make sure the vent flap outside is not stuck closed. Also make sure when you push the dryer back into place, that you don't squish the vent tube, if it is made of plastic or foil. After reconnecting the vent, turn on the dryer. The air flow may blow out the lint you have dislodged with the snake. Clean out as necessary at the outside vent. I have a long vent line on my dryer, so I have do this annually. This has helped shorten my dry time every time I do it. Of course, cleaning out the filter regularly, does help too. The more often you clean the filter, the less lint that will build up in the vent . Hope this helps. Douglas

It has a smell when turned on and it is hot on top

Verify that a restricted moisture vent is not the cause of the overheating condition. Pull off the vent hose and verify that it is not plugged with lint and that the air flow coming from the dryer is good. Also verify that the air flow to the outside of the house is good and not restricted with lint. Otherwise it could be an issue with the dryer thermostat causing it to continually heat until it is too hot.

Dryer heats and spins but doesn't dry. Perhaps the blower?

Remove the rear connecting vent and try it. If it dries then, repair the vent blockage.
It not, report back as to what does happens.
Model number too.

Dryer will turn/spin but it will NOT dry with hot air at all. It is a Whirpool WED5200TQ Dryer.

Unplug it and remove the rear cover. Check for lint in the pipes. Take the heating element off and look for broken coils. Mounted on the heater is a cupla safetys. The small one at the top is usually open IF the element turns out to be ok. This phenom is caused by a blocked dryer vent.f7a9c3e.jpg

Aquarius 1200 wd62 - Dryer not working

Most likely it is some sort of blockage in the vent, although it could be a bad blower. Check the lint filter and vent openings for a blockage.
