It depends. If this is the _very_ first time that you have connected the IOMEGA device to your computer, you'll need to "initialize" the HDD for usage by Windows (or Mac OS).
Or, if you've previously done that, and you've written files onto it, and now cannot read those files, you have an entirely-different problem, namely a "hardware" problem.

An external storage device has several major components:

* the USB cable (which in your case, seems OK, since the device is listed)
* the disk-drive inside the enclosure
* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure
* optionally, an external power-supply that connects to the enclosure.

Use a multi-meter to measure the voltage/amperage generated by that power-supply,
and compare with the specifications on the power-supply's label.

Disassemble the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive.
Connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if bypassing that USB-to-disk-drive adapter bypasses the problem.

If the device is still under warranty, IOMEGA will replace it, at minimal cost to you.

If the warranty has terminated, buy a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it inside the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Using your mouse, right click on the drive in your drives list then left click on Create Shortcut. This should create an icon on your desktop for the drive.

Iomega eGo Helium 1TB has a damaged PCB. Local 1TB Casing do detects the HDD and its Drives. BUT asks for Formating the Drives. Which case can be purchased. how to recover the data. ?

It might be tricky, but you can remove the hdd from its casing, and install into a pc with compatible connections as a slave drive. Make sure to handle the drive carefully, and try to copy any data you want to another drive on the pc, then run chkdsk X: /f /r on the affected drive.
Another possible solution is to rightclick on My Computer, Manage, go to the drive mangement menu, and rightclick on the drive, and import it into your system so that windows can recognize it.

Is it possible to boot from an Iomega eGo Blackbelt Mac Edition Portable HD and also use it to clone an existing drive? I want to upgrade an existing 160GB Internal HDD in a Macbook Pro 17" to a...

It's possible to clone to this drive, but over the USB interface, it will be very slow. Firewire would be faster. It's also possible to boot from it, but again, it will be slower than an internal. What you've described, however, IS possible.

My Iomega eGo Portable Hard drive 500 GB main light is not showing when i plug it in through the usb drive, i think this connection may be damaged. Is a way to solve it to buy dc5v to usb cable and plug it...

Have you tried connecting it with the Firewire cable that came with it? (your pc may not have the correct port) or connecting it with a different usb cable?
Has the drive been dropped? it has a protection system which shuts the drive down when it is dropped. you may need to put the HDD into a different caddy or plug it directly into a desktop pc's motherboard to retrieve you data.
I hope this helps.

Iomega eGo 1TB USB 3.0 Portable portable harddisk 500GB. while connected to PC show an error on desktop "insufficient power on USB hub port" . pls suggest

Few different things are possibilities.
1. Are you connecting the device via USB 3.0 to the USB 3.0 adapter on the computer? 2. Try switching out your USB 3.0 cable for a different one. 3. If you are using the USB 2.0 instead. Make sure you are using the USB Y cable for the device and not just a standard USB 2.0 straight cable. Using the USB Y cable. Plug the cable into the device first, then make sure to plug both USB's into the computer starting with the short side USB then the longer side USB second. Also try using the USB's on the back side of the computer as they will supply more power than the USB's on the front of the computer.

You might try opening it up and seeing if you can pull the HDD and put it in your PC as an auxiliary drive. If it works, the interface or power supply was bad.

If it's intermittent, get all the data off it ASAP, because you'll probably not going to get much use out of it.
