My camera will turn on, lens opens but then it immediately shuts off. I've just replaced the battery and that didn't do the trick. Please tell me you all have a solution... I see a ton of other peple have the same issue, but no one has responded with a solution.
The lens of my camera is not going in when the camera turns off and my camera is turning on but it immediately shuts off........i have tried many things like taking the battery in and out cutting on the camera and nothing worked
A family member of mine had that exact same camera and it did the exact same thing (though, he left his in the snow all night). The way he got around it, was to turn it on, and then hold on to the lens to prevent it from closing back into the camera. This trick always worked for him, but if you do it, it may mess up more things with the camera. If it's a risk you are willing to take, go for it!

Have you made sure that the batteries are LiIon and fully charged? I had a similar problem with a Kodak Easyshare camera that required the higher voltage LiIon battery pack rather than alkaline AAs which will fit in there but is not exactly right.
are you using the recommneded battery fro your camera KODAK Li-Ion Digital Camera Battery KLIC 7001? If yes please charged the battery for 3hrs and try to turn on the camera., if encounter same problem it means the gear lens of your V550 is already defective and needs of repair please call precision and binocular repair at 1 800 665 6515.,
I don't think its the battery. My just did this this week..If I slide the Favorites switch up (switch by hand strap mounting hole) I can view the pictures in it, but it won't use in photo mode, Lens won't extend, and it shuts off?
Hey akpssttt, I had the same problem with my kodak and even though I was able to turn on the camera, the lens would not come back in. So after awhile I just gave up took it to the repair shop and they still weren't able to fix it. So I left the camera for about a year now, gathering dust, but recently I decided to give another shot, and amazingly when I plug the camera into the charger, the lens went back in! And now the camera works perfectly.
So I would suggest you leaving your camera out for awhile and do not charge it until the batteries is completely drained. And then plug it back into the charger.
hmm, that happened to me too when the battery was dead. try recharging your camera. make sure it is sitting on the charging dock right. make sure the charger is plugged in and it's working. see if the battery was put in correctly. if none of this helps, try a different battery, maybe the one you bought is no good. who knows what shelflife is on those
Sounds like a new battery would do wonders. I would contact Kodak and see if hey will offer you a new battery. If not then I would go buy one. The battery is probably the most likely to go bad so fast on a camera.
my camera is also doing this and i need help the lens comes out and straight back in also i lost my manual on kodak easyshare v550
amd cant get my camera to work at all i brought a new battery and it makes no difference please help.
