I found two bulging capacitors on the PS board: 1000uF and 470uF. Also found chemical residue on the inside of the case just above the two capacitors. I replaced both and now it works.

Cook temp not working

follow this steps and test with VOM. God bless you

Diode

The high voltage diode converts the A/C power output of the transformer to D/C, doubling the voltage to nearly 5,000 volts. This high voltage powers the magnetron which emits the energy that cooks the food. If the diode burns out, a lower A/C voltage reaches the magnetron, which is not sufficient to power the magnetron. When the diode fails it is often visibly burned out. If it appears to be good, it can be tested with a volt-Ohm meter capable of testing diodes. High voltage diodes frequently fail and are one of the most common points of failure in a microwave oven. A regular meter with a diode checker will not work to check these diodes. You have to use a meter with a 9 volt battery or put a 9 volt battery in series with the diode to check it.

Door Switch

If the microwave does not heat, one of the door switches might be defective. Microwave ovens normally have three door switches, if any of them fail the microwave does not turn on and does not heat. Check the switches for continuity with an Ohm meter.

Magnetron

If the microwave oven doesn't heat the magnetron tube might have burned out. The magnetron uses high voltage, high current DC power to generate the microwave frequency that cooks the food. If the microwave oven is turned on when it is empty this can cause the magnetron to burn out. Once it is burned out it has to be replaced, it's not repairable.

High Voltage Capacitor

If the microwave doesn't heat the high voltage capacitor might be defective. The high voltage capacitor works with the high voltage diode to convert the output of the transformer to DC voltage and to double the output voltage. If the capacitor is burned out the entire high voltage circuit stops working properly. The high voltage capacitor can be checked with a special VOM meter which has a capacitance testing capability. Be aware that the high voltage capacitor can retain a charge of more than 3,000 volts and can injure or kill a person if not handled properly. Only trained technicians should perform this type of testing.

High Voltage Transformer

If the microwave does not heat, the high voltage transformer might be burned out. Microwave ovens produce a very high voltage in order to power the magnetron antenna, which emits the energy that cooks the food. When a high voltage transformer fails it will usually arch and have a burning smell.

There is no cheap fix for a burned up motor...you'll need to replace it. You can replace just the motor for about half the cost of a whole new unit. When you replace the motor you should replace the pump seal as well. Your motor number should be UST1152 for the 1.5 HP and the seal number a 201.

First double-check all your connections and wiring. Make sure there is nothing looose or broken. The capacitors also could be swoolen and burned out. You can test with capacitor tester. Thermal fuse or flyback is also possible and common causes. Lamp burn out? Do you have power to the bulb socket? Power to ballast that bulb attaches to? Last solution wold be to replace the board

If you found a bloated capacitor on the circuit board, that one needs to be replaced not the board. You can see the part number on the capacitor itself. Also please look for any burned IC and neighboring components. If you found additional burned components, it also need to be replace. Contact a pro tv technician to replace it.

MV-1610 Runs but doesn't heat

That wouldn't be a resistor on the capacitor, it would be the high voltage rectifier diode.

It should read open on a continuity check. A shorted high voltage diode is a fairly common cause of a no-heat condition.

For testing, see: http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html

Sylvania 6842pf m after i power on inmedialty power off (stamby)

These sets are manufactured by Funai, in my opinion total junk, yet they command a $1,500 price tag. I cannot find parts available for this hunk of **** anywhere so if this tip helps you fix this set and get it out of your hair, God Bless You! Model number is followed by an M to read: 6842PF M Found no VSUS on connector CN2502 of the SMPS. VSUS was shorted to adjacent GND pin by 120 Ohms. Small high voltage blue capacitor C2250 (Between Two very big electrolytics and right next VSUS diode D2250 (TO-220 package) on aluminum heatsink) shorted, burned. I have two of these sets in the shop at the same time, both of them have the very same problem, appears to be common and parts seem to be NLA for this unit. Replace C2250, 1,500 pF @ 1Kv. Usually marked as 152K on small high voltage capacitors in junk units. This is not a common value part so if you have to, make one by parallelling a .001 uF cap (102) with a 470 pF cap (471) to get a suitable 1,470 pF capacitor at 1 Kv. Adjust VSUS with VR2250 on SMPS board to read 175 VDC to GND and you are done. You're welcome. ~Ohmster
