Scroll Function Doesn't Work

Hi there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. At least once a day, the scroll function on my Lenovo T61 Thinkpad - using the mouse, touchpad or arrows - will malfunction and not allow me to scroll down at all. The only thing that seems to work is to re-boot, but it's awfully frustrating to have to do that one or more times a day.

That's sounds like a good idea, but how would I actually do that?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 Notebook, and one or more times a day the scroll function goes wacky. I can save my files but cannot move through them and have to reboot. This started the second day I had the laptop. Very frustrating!

I have a new T61 series, and the scrolling function rarely works. If I open the control panel -> mouse and work with it, it may fix for an hour; then it's gone again.

My touchpad will no longer let me scroll up and down using two fingers on the mousepad. It used to work before.
How do I unlock the scrolling facility?

Just a followup to my June 27th post: I always use a mouse. The last two times the scrolling problem occurred, I tried using the touchpad to move the cursor to the scroll bar, then clicking the touchpad button as if selecting that position--and the scrolling problem disappeared for that session. I didn't have to reboot.

Scrolling is integrated into the operating system. Try a restore point to a time you recall it working properly. If this doesn't work try a repair from your recovery disc or an operating system repair with your op system disc.

Hi Carol,
The three keys over your mouse pad are for the little nib mouse in the keyboard they are the Right and left click as well as a scroll in the middle. If you are referring to the FN key on the system they are function keys that are shown on the keyboard as blue lettering to use them you hold down the FN key and hit the one you need.
The accent over the e is a language setting i take it your on windows XP but the steps to go to the language settings are shown from Microsoft here
you can then go in to the Text Services and Input Languages dialog box as shown and remove the ones you do not use most keyboard are English US

go to consumer select the model G550 for the option 2 which asks for you to select your product, download the driver for ALPS touchpad and reinstall it to your computer. the scroll function should work after updating the drivers. If it still wont work, go to the control panel and configure it from the mouse properties. you would be given additional options once youve installed the driver
