Does the unit work ok when it eventualy starts up? if so it would suggest possible dry solder joints in the power supply section, high value resistors that have changed tolerance, dried out capacitors? but if this was the case you would expect to see some visual picture problem, picture size problem or an audio hum?? these type of faults you would expect to see with age, ie if the unit was 3/4 yrs old. You will need a techie visit, sorry.

The tv has power .the red light is on ,but when it turns on,the green light comes on but then it turns right back off ant the light goes back to red it has a round 1/2" button like plastic plug in...

Tod,
The little plastic button you are referring to is the IR receiver for the Remote. When the TV turns itself off, are there any flashing lights on the front or rear of the unit. Look through the vents in the rear for any flashing lights or try tuning the tv on in a dark room and see if any lights flash and reflect off of walls. If there are flashing lights tell me how many flashes and what color and I will try to look them up in the manual.
