Sir it is present in the control board of your TV sir.

both convergence IC and vertical ICs needs to be removed and soldered.
but since u wil be working at a very high voltage there is always a risk of electrical shock.

because the flyback voltage is enormously high.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The issue is with the convergence ICs going bad and needs to be replaced. It’s not a difficult job if you want to do this yourself, you should require some basic knowledge about soldering-resoldering components. To start with you’ll have to open the back of the unit and then replace the ICs(STK ICs) which are located behind the black heat sink and also check the resistors as if they are short the ICs might blow again after sometime. There are repair kits available which includes repair instructions with the parts, if you want to do it yourself you can buy and repair it yourself. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

My tv has many lines in the screen. what kind of problem is this and what does it need to be fixed?

You may be suggesting a convergence problem..when the blue and red boxes will not center. You have bad grounds on the convergence ICs. Resolder or replace theses ICs. Or you may be asking about a problem in the vertical section. Vertical problems will appear as horizontal lines on the TV. In this case you have bad capacitors near ithe vertical IC and must also resolder or replace the vertical IC.

Cannot adjust horizontal blue convergence on WS 55857

You still have bad grounds on the ICs. Or maybe the solder has fused another pin. If not bad grounds on the ICs you have missed them elsewhere...Really concentrate and look for these bad grounds and check your caps with a cap check. And power resistors too!!!!!

I have a toshiba TP55C81 projection TV. The red The red vertical adjustments stopped working. The adjustmnet knob in the control panel does not effect the adjustment and none of the vertical adjustmen

You need to replace the vertical STK convergence chip but I would recommend that you replace the horizontal chip at the same time as this is likely to fail soon.

The following relates to the repair I have recently carried out to my Toshibal 40WH08B rear projection TV but shuold be very similar to your model. Replace the STK chips with the same type on your model:

On the convergence board PB 9487 (the one with the 2 large heat sinks that the r, b & g guns plug into) you will see two STK392-110 ics connected to the large heat sinks. Replace both of these and readjust convergence in service mode if necessary.

I obtained the replacement ics from Charles Hyde & Sons Ltd (see link below). I ordered the general ics not the Toshiba ones as these are identical as far as I could see and they cost £17.19 each instead of £36.68 each.

http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/search.html?query=stk392-110

You will need to desolder the heat sinks as well as the ics as access to the ic mount screws are obstructed by the conv.dig board (metal cased). Buy a good quality desolder pump if you dont have one.
One last thing I should mention. The white paste between the ics and the heatsink is silicon thermal compound. Without this the heatsinks will not take heat from the ics effectivly and the ics will burn out! I recommend that you clean all of the old paste off the heatsinks and apply new to the whole of the metal plates on the back of the ics before you screw them to the heatsinks. You can get the thermal compound and the desolder pump from the same supplier I recommended for the ics.

Let know if your are having any problems.

Toshiba 42" suddenly has blue arc projecting through lower half of screen. Confirmed it was the blue tube by removing the projector lens and looking at the direct image.  Is this a bad tube or something...

Hello,

This is not a bad tube it is a convergence problem. Your convergence amplifiers are malfunctioning, and need to be replaced. If you have a background in electronics, you can remove the back of the TV locate the Convergence ICs (using the schematic or service manual) and the order the parts you will need which are the two convergence ICs and the biasing resistors (you will see these on the schematic). To remove them unsolder the pins, unscrew the screws holding them on the heat sink and remove them carefully, if they stick use a solvent to break down the adhesion of the heat sink paste. Once loose, take them out and then unsolder the biasing resistors and replace them with the ones you ordered along with the ICs.

To install the new ICs put heat sink paste on the back of the ICs and insert the pins into the proper holes in the circuit board. Screw the screws back in securely, and solder the connections back.

After doing this you will need to perform a convergence adjustment, using the cross hair adjustment screen (access this from your TV menu). and the you will need to do an advance adjustment using the crosshatch pattern (also accessed from your TV menu).

Once these are done use you service manual to follow the procedures on locking the adjustments into the TVs memory.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Can't control red convergence on VS-45607

The STKs are three channel ICs they each control horizontal and vertical of one color the third channel controls part of green and the other half of green is controled by the other ICs third channel. Its customary for the Ics to fail and only have one channel bad in the IC. However its recomended to change both because of the bad Ic having green it can actually weaken the other IC and that one will fail shortly.

Did you check for open resistors coming out of the ICs. These commonly go open when the ICs go out. The are located right next to the ICs there are numerous resitors all with no color bands very easy to locate. Check these resistors.
