Question about Sony SLV-D251P DVD/CD Player w/Built-in Hi-Fi VCR CD Player

1 Answer

Player shows ejects symbol and shuts off after about 45 seconds

I turn it on. It shows the eject symbol on the screen and automatically turns off. I've tried unplugging it, switching between VCR and DVD, putting in different tapes and DVDs, or nothing. Any suggestions? It's only a few months old and started doing it after my power went out for a few hours. Thanks.

The timing will be out of line, thats whats putting in shut-down mode. dis-engage the tape carriage from the running cogs and manually put it in eject mode, re-align the main cogs to their pointers. there should be one on the cogs and on the chassis to help you re-align then re-engage the carriage to its cog.

The disktray automaticly opens and closed several times. When I put a cd in de tray the tray closed and opend without playing

Hi, when a disk tray automatically opens and closed several time, might be from the disk tray itself is jambed that's why it opening and closes by itself. You can open up the player and check if any thing in hooking it.

Also it might need to be replaced, the wheels inside the DVD player might be too weak to move in and out without moving automatically.

The way i see it, you might end up replacing the disk tray with a new one..

Have a nice day.

DURNING FINALIZE MODE IT STOPPED WITH1:30 LEFT--- THEN I TURNED IT OFF AND TRIED AGAIN TO FINALIZE AND IT CAME UP WITH A READING OF---REPAIR--

That's a normal response to an interrupted Finalization.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/HHB-CDR830-CD-Players-manual/id/3875ci874/t/2/

The recorder was switched off/unplugged after recording without ejecting the disc. The recorder could not write essential recording information onto the disc.

While REPAIR is displayed, the recorder automatically examines the recorded area of the disc and updates the track numbers and recording time data. This process takes about 40 minutes for a fully recorded disc. Finalization or further recording is possible once the REPAIR message disappears.

My dvd wont read discs

Hello,

When you get the no Disk Read Error, it normally occurs for one of two reasons. Either dust has built up on the lens of the laser mechanism, or the operating voltage of the laser has drifted off slightly due to heat and age. Of course, occasionally there are actual failures of components, which cause this, but these are the main two reasons.

Tools required by this guide are (not all are required for all parts however):

1) A normal sizes star (Phillips) screwdriver.
2) A very small Phillips screwdriver.
3) A small, flat screwdriver.
4) Some isopropanol alcohol (IPA)
5) A few cotton buds
6) A little mechanical grease. (I’ve used Vaseline before)
7) A can of compressed air.
8) An oscilloscope.
Cleaning the laser lens
1) Remove any CDs from the unit and unplug all leads and memory cards. Turn the unit upside down and use the small, flat screwdriver to pop out all the little plastic and rubber screw covers.
Take your normal sized Phillips screwdriver and unscrew all the screws.
Try to write down where each part comes from (including the screws as they have to be returned to the same location at the end. Stick them in a tub to keep them safe.

Turn the unit back up the right way, holding it all together. Place on the work surface and gently ease the case open. You may have to tilt the lid slightly towards the front, and slide out to avoid the cd tray.

BE CAREFUL not to damage the eject/power button ribbon cable, as these are very fragile..
Take a cotton bud and careful place some of the alcohol on it (but not so much that it is dripping everywhere). This alcohol is the same (or similar) to the small bottle of alcohol which is in audio and video cassette cleaning kits. This is probably the best way to locate a source. Locate the lens (the circular glass part) and very gently rub the cotton bud around the lens in circular motions for about 30 seconds, being very gentle. Once done, flip the cotton bud over and dry the lens with the other end for about 10 seconds.
The laser part slides on rods to reach different rings of the cd. These can become clogged up with dirt and dust, making movement difficult. So, take a clean cotton bud and clean the slide rods thoroughly, making sure you get to all parts and give a good clean. You have now completed the cleaning process. This often cures read errors and should always be attempted first. Reverse the dismantling process and put the machine back together, making sure you DON’T TRAP the eject / power button ribbon cable, as this can cause serious problems for you if it happens.
Power on the unit and try to load both a CD and a DVD game. If all works fine then CONGRATULATION on completing the guide. but if otherwise you have to change the You have now completed the cleaning process. This often cures read errors and should always be attempted first. Reverse the dismantling process and put the machine back together, making sure you DON’T TRAP the eject / power button ribbon cable, as this can cause serious problems for you if it happens.

Power on the unit and try to load both a CD and a DVD game. If all works fine then CONGRATULATIONS on completing the guide. if this dont wonk you have to change the DVD drive of the DVD player , in which this comes with a complete laser and mechanism...
Hope this help...

Cdr is not reading blank disc shows disc error

A few small things to try. Turn off unit, unplug for 5 minutes, plug back in, turn unit on.

There is a product called a cd/dvd lens cleaning disc. Worth the investment to have around.

Sometimes spindle dvd blanks have a few bad ones.

Check manual, might describe exactly what types of dvd blanks are best to use with the unit.

Just some suggestions, hope this helps.

How do I hook up my vcr to my dvd recorder so I

You will need one RCA video cable it will have a yellow, red and white plugs. On the back of your VCR locate where the color inputs are find where it says VIDEO OUT hook it up there. On the back of the DVD Recorder look for the same color input jacks NOW find where it says VIDEO IN hook it up there. You may have to turn on your TV,DVD recorder and VCR to get the right channel. your Recorder may have one or more video inputs if it does turn on all three. Use the channel on your TV you use to watch DVDs make sure you see your DVD screen. Now to record to a DVD. Change the channel on the DVD Recorder. Look for the input channels It may be Video 1 Video 2 etc... depends on the inputs you have. ( A great way to tune your DVD Recorder is to play a prerorded VCR tape. Turn the channel on your DVD Recorder unil you see the prereorded tape playing. )

HI...

There might be a round access hole on the bottom of the case with a symbol near it.If it does , turn the screw down inside. Many CD players have a Panic hole like that.
