How do I switch off the child lock?

Which model Siemens washer do you have? For the WM16Y792GB, the child lock is toggled on and off by pressing and holding 2 buttons that are below the LCD display screen on the left side of the screen for 3+ seconds. The phrase "Child Lock 3 seconds" is just below the buttons. The temperature and spin buttons are above the display in the corresponding location.

For the WM12Q391GB, the child lock is toggled on and off by holding the Start button for about 5 seconds. On this model, the Start button is the one to the farthest right. This button doesn't seem to have a symbol or text indicating that it also controls the Child Lock feature. The manual does tell how to toggle the Child Lock feature on and off.

Many Siemens appliance manuals are available from their web site. Some are available here: http://www.siemens-home.com/ie/customer-service/manuals . Otherwise, try to find the product site and click on the Downloads tab. The washers listed above both have the manuals on their pages. The WM12Q391GB page is http://www.siemens-home.com/ie/productlist/laundry/washing-machines/WM12Q391GB?breadcrumb=frontloaderwashingmachines . The WM16Y792GB page is http://www.siemens-home.com/ie/productlist/laundry/washing-machines/WM16Y792GB?breadcrumb=frontloaderwashingmachines .

I hope this helps. Otherwise, please add a comment with the model of your washer. I will attempt to locate the Child Lock information you need,

You have the child lock turned on. See page 28 of this manual.

Screen says "locked" and nothing happens when you

The child lock has been enabled on the microwave. To disable the lock, press and hold 0 until the Locked message disappears from the screen. To set the Lock, press Stop/Clear (to clear the display) and then press and hold the 0 pad until the phrase Lock appears and you hear two beeps.

The manual for the microwave is available here: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search_results.jsp?searchTerm=JMC8130DDS&siteCd=JA_EN_US&userType=Consumer . The direct link to the manual is http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%208112P218-60.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Hi, I have a sony DVP-SR500H dvd player. I've had it for about 4 months. It is showing an error code "t-lck" on the display when I push eject and the tray won't open. There is a feature on...

T-LCK indicates device protection, not child lock - you will need to take it to an authorised Sony service centre; they will charge a quote fee to tell you what parts if any need replacing and what's involved (always ask for details) - you can then make a decision on whether or not to go ahead with the repair.

Maybe there is a modification the service centre can carry out to permanently disable this unnecessary protection; it isn't reliable. As I say, you can always say no to the repair after the initial quote if you feel it is going to cost more than the machine is worth.

HOW TO UNLOCK TRAY

If the display says "Locked" when trying to open tray, then the child lock is on and needs to be turned off. You can find it on page 24 of your owners manual or you can download the manual from this link.
If the display says "Tray Locked", then Sony suggests that you take it to a service center for repair. I would suggest that you try unplugging it for several hours and see if it will open the tray when plugged in.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.
