Question about JVC AV-27730 27" TV

1 Answer

Erratic problem sometimes horizontal line only in middle of screen picture is restored when I tap or flex board I have the same problem with a JVC 27745. The picture reduces to anything between a horizontal line and a full picture and can bounce to a thin bar or line at any time during failure. I can slide the main board forward toward its normal position and repeatedly encounter a point where the normal picture cuts off to a horizontal line. But even very near that tripping point, I've yanked every wire and poked around at several places on the board and mystifyingly can't isolate the cause. It seems as though the nearness of the board to the picture tube were somehow triggering the fault, because no wires, connectors or repeatable board flexure seemed responsible. I'll comment when I've tracked it down.

TV has a great picture but wont "hold it". Keeps going to a single flat horizontal line across the middle of the screen. Tapping on side of TV used to bring it back but now, nothing. Just a line.

Vertical scan output section circuit fault. Absence of vertical scan causes the single horizontal line on screen. Horizontal scan output section is OK. Contact any service technician to troubleshoot the vertical scan output section circuit. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. after 4 or 5 yrs (depending on usuage ) in some TVs on mainboard & CRT tube's circuit board at some soldering joints cracks develops ... then due to loose contact TV behaves as you have described ........ when you are hitting that lightly on its side then these cracks at soldering joints are getting connected temporarly & for few seconds or minutes you are getting normal picture ....... so solution is most of the soldering joints on mainboard & on CRT circuit board has to be resoldered ....... only good tv service engineer can do this without shorting joints or damaging components..... so in your place contact few TV service engineers & ask them how much they will charge for resoldering joints on mainboard & crt tube's circuit board ......

JVC AV-27730: horizontal bright line across screen in the

it could be an electrolytic capacitor or the vertical output I.C. in the vertical circuitry,if you remove the rear cover tap on the board in different places and see if the picture fills out or atleast jitters like it might fill out, then it could be just a cold solder joint, then remove the main board and resolder all joints and this should repair the condition you have

either your vertical driver or output circuit capacitor(s) defective, try this remove rear cover and with something insulated like a straw prod and poke around the circuit board, sometimes theres a cold solder joint, if picture starts to expand on screen its a solder joint

Horizontal Line through middle of TV screen

This is usually a bad elect capasitor or a bad solder connection on the vertical IC, The capasitors will be close to the vert chip..Sometimes you can clear problem with a light tap on the TV, if so then suspect bad solder.

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

Horizontal blue line

The intermittent horizontal line is cause by a loose solder connection in the vertical amplifier IC.
The IC is mounted on a heatsink nearby or around the flyback transformer.
The way to fix this failure is to add fresh solder where you see some brown spots on the circuitry that were cause by components getting hot.
Good Luck.

It sounds like a vertical deflection problem. You mentioned you had a white HORIZONTAL LINE in the middle of the screen. If this line runs from left to right across the screen it's in Verticla deflection. If it runs from top to bottom, it's in Horizontal deflection. I am assuming the problem is a Vertical deflaecion problem. The repairs necessary are most likley to replace the vertical capacitors or the verticla deflection chip.

Erratic problem

Hi.

This fault is very easy to repair.
You will need a soldering iron for electrical work with no bigger than 2mm tip & multicore fluxed solder.
The frame chip requires resoldering in to place.
Ensure tv is unplugged froms mains supply remove the back of set, You will need to get access to the underside of the main circuit board.

The chip you are looking for will be screwed or clipped to a metal
heatsink it will be close to the line output transformer (loptx).
The loptx is easy to find it will be a large grey or black plastic item with a thick red wire coming out the top going to the glass on the tube. it will allso have 2 or more other wires coming out of it going to the pcb on tube.

WARNING do not attempt to remove thick red lead from the glass of the tube it will be holding high voltage.

Once you have found the frame chip it will have 5 or more legs on it just resolder all the legs to pcb.

And thats it jobe done reassemble tv & switch on tap the top of tv if picture is stable you have repaired it. If its not check your soldering carefully & resolder any resistors diodes & capacitors that are close to the frame chip.
