Windows should have the USB drivers ready to install now.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager, after opening Device manager, at the bottom of the list is Universal Serial Bus Controllers> Delete the ones that your having trouble with. Then Restart you computer, when it restarts you'll see a pop up notification. It will say Windows has found new hardware and is installing driver for this hardware. That should be all there is to it. Sounds easy because it is.
The power connectors that are feeding the USB from the inside seem to be ok. The data connections of the USB are bad. Maybe with some very careful professional soldering of the data connectors on the inside of the USB, your problem would be resolved.
if you are looking for a firewire port on the laptop, i believe it does not have one.. your option for connection would be the USB 2.0 and eSata port located at the left and right side of the laptop
I think there is something wrong with your USB cable. Or the printer is faulty. Do not try again to connect it. If you plug something else in your USB port it works ?
