Question about Viking Kitchen Ranges

Hi, I just moved into a new home with a 2003 Viking Professional already installed. We had a very short power outage (30 seconds) and now the range won't work. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in. Still nothing. It does get gas and I can ignite the burners with a match, but there is no clicking noise and the oven does not work at all. Could you assist in what the problem is? The manual is unhelpful. Thank you, Cynthia 510-647-9148

    Thanks so much for that additional advice about flipping the switch for more than 5 minutes. I flipped it several times but not for any extended period. I know the breaker fuse is ok (per PG

    I figured out the problem, all by myself. :)
    It turns out this house has two circuit breakers for the oven (and perhaps other things). The circuit breaker on the lower level was not flipped when the power went out, but the breaker on the top level was thrown. I had no idea there was a breaker up there -- it's in a laundry area.

Are you able to get any indication of power on the machine? Do lights light up and displays turn on for example?

Please let me know, it sounds like the control board for your oven has failed. Also I know you already unplugged it but try actually flipping the circuit breaker to the oven and letting it sit off for AT LEAST 5 minutes straight before switching it back on. This will cause it to truly reset, anything shorter and it may still have power in the capacitors on the oven and not fully reset.

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire range is displaying an "F11" error code after a power outage. An "F11" error code stands for a shorted keypad. I would suggest performing a reset on your range and you can do that by flipping the household circuit breaker off for at least ten minutes. Digital display on Viking double oven VEDO205 went dark after a power outage. All else seems to work.


Hi try pulling the fuse to the oven for 20 mins and then power it up again doing a hard reset and see how that goes.

Hello Herb Reinhart - If the range previously displayed DR and now showing F11, it typically indicates that the unit has detected a shorted keypad. Since you have already try resetting the unit by unplugging it and issue persists, I would recommend contacting a professional to proceed further. Most likely the EOC on the range will need replacing.

How to reset frigidaire stove after self cleaning


Hi - Try resetting the range by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately 30 seconds and turn on the unit. Start range, if it does not turn on then the temperature had tripped the internal sensor of the unit and needs to be reset. This usually has to be done by a professional since the back panel needs to be taken off and the power reset inside. Possibly the unit may have a communication problem with the EOC and I would suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

Hello - Typically error code F10 indicates a variety of issues. The range could possibly have a runaway temp (higher than normal temps), shorted keypad, faulty EOC (Electronic Oven Control) or, display wire harness missing/not connected. Usually, these codes mean to replace the EOC. You may be able to reset the range by disconnecting the power to the unit for up to 30 seconds. This will clear most false error codes. You can disconnect power by either unplugging the unit or flipping the circuit breaker off and back on. If resetting the unit proves to be ineffective, I would recommend contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

Takes forever for my oven to preheat to 400*. 25 minutes or so. Oven is brand new.


A brand new oven should work. You should not tinker with a brand new oven. A brand new oven that is malfunctioning is probably under warranty and should be repaired under that warranty.

Viking is the Rolls Royce of kitchen equipment. Call your installer or builder or Viking for service for your brand new oven.

depending who made it, i would say its probably a whirlpool ....
that suks this is common after power outages..

1. Frst disconnect the power for at least 30 seconds. at the unit or breaker
2. Plug power back in and wait for couple minutes.
3. If code shows up again, replace the control board (also the electronic control board or ERC or clock.

note-usually boards are expensive couple hundred dollars so decide if u wanna get a new range .. k take care hope this helped

How to install ignitors on Viking Range


I am assuming your referring to the stove top burner ignitor. Well - I can only say on my Viking 48 inch - it was located at top RHS of the stove on the 'back wall'. I was advised by an 'come to my home tech' that it would be located at the back of my stove (ie he would have to pull out the built in unit and cost me 500$). In fact I replaced the unit in 30 minutes ... I removed the two RHS burners (one screw each), disconnected ignitor wires, removed the bracket holding the burners (one screw), followed ignitor wires to silver box covering the ignitor unit (2 screws), opened it & replaced ignitor. Forgot to say - 1st thing I did was turn off power & gas to the range
