Ethernet-controller drivers for Acer Aspire 5520-5908 XP

Find a USB memory-stick, and find a computer with Internet access and an available USB port.
Put the memory-stick into the USB slot.
Browse to ACER's web-site, and select your specific model of the Aspire line, and select Windows XP, and select network-controllers, and download the device-drivers, and copy them onto the memory-stick,.
Walk the memory-stick to your Acer, and install the device-driver.

Problem

Try removing the software for the printer again and disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Reinstall the software and after its finished reinstalling, reconnect the USB cable to computer. Many USB printers require you to install the software first without the printer connected to the computer.

Usb ports not working

  1. Checking USB device status in Device Manager
  1. Right-click My Computer on the Windows desktop and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Device Manager tab to display the Device Manager window as shown at the right. (For Windows 2000 systems, click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button.

  6. If Universal serial bus controller, USB host controller and USB root hub are listed but one or more display a yellow exclamation point, go to USB controller IRQ conflict
  7. If you have Windows XP, right-click the Host Controller and select Properties from the drop-down menu. If you see this status message in the Properties window: The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28), go to Windows XP USB 2.0 driver not installed .
  8. If Universal serial bus controller, USB host controller and USB root hub are listed but one or more display a red X, go to USB controller or root hub disabled in Windows Device Manager.

Computer not recognizing any usb devices

Well, appears that your configuration can handle 4 GB of memory. I checked the Acer website for upgrades for your model, and nothing appears to jump out which could solve your problem. A few appear to be possibly helpful, but some are for XP, not Vista. Upgrading "launch manager" might be a good thing.

However, Belarc tells me that on my Acer 5630 i have listed under "Bus adapters" the following:
Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C8
Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C9
Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27CA
Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27CB
Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC
And, under "other devices", i have a USB Root Hub (5x). Obviously, the two match. I go to device manager to check them out, finding them under 'univesal bus controllers", to see whether they are all working properly, and and they are. In addition, opening "system devices" reveals something called a "plug and play software device enumerator", and that checks out to be working fine as well. Check your equivalent out to see if you find a problem to fix. Hopefully you will. Let me know how things go.

Wireless card not functioning/disabled after loading XP in a Compaq Presario C700T CTO Notebook PC

The wireless is not going to turn on and off via the switch properly until we get the drivers loaded to make it work. There are 3 possible types of wireless card it could be, so we have to find out the exact model number of your system. On the bottom there should be a label that has a P/N or part number listed. what are those numbers. Here's an example of the label:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00033108&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3632144&dlc=en

or

http://tinyurl.com/35dt4h

we need the info listed for #1, #2 and #3. Then we should be able to determine which adapter you have, and then we can (hopefully) find some Windows XP drivers for you.
