Question about NetGear WGR614 Router

1 Answer

Lost connection Hi- We have been using the router for a few months now and all of a sudden (after a lightening storm not sure if that had anything to do with it) we lost the connection. When you click on the icon on the bottom on the screen it says " Not connected". Not sure what happened and how to fix it. Let me know your thoughts.

Certainly sounds like it has returned the configuration to default at the very least.. Maybe took a power hit & is dead.. But certainly worth some testing.. As this device does not contain a modem, I guess I can assume yours is external.. So have you plugged the ethernet (or usb) cable directly into a pc to prove it's actually the router? If you have, then I guess it worked & you can access the internet via the modem only? If it does not work, the problem is either the modem or the pc. Have you tried a cable (ethernet) directly from the router to the pc? It might be the wireless connection in the pc thats faulty? Then, the next test is to get into the router via a direct cable to an ethernet port, via the web browser..You might have to reset the modem to default to do that.. If you do not know what your router password is..? Also check your modem for correct lights.. Does your modem have lights on the front or side? How are the lights labeled? Pls get back to me, if you try these tests or if you need additional information on how to test the router.. Rgds,

My D-Link 2750U router is not working from last evening due to the heavy rain, lightning and storm. What should I do?

If you have lost three devices I'm sure you had ALL your computer devices on a UPS/Surge protector? Always connect ALL computer devices to a Power strip, UPS, or even better, unplug or switch off when not in use. A power strip with Surge Protection will help, most have a power switch/ Circut Breaker, to shut down ALL devices connected when not in use.

I can not connect to 192.168.1.1

Check the IP address on your computer.
Connect the computer to the router and check the IP address and default gateway on your computer.
The default gateway is the IP address of your router.
If it is 192.168.1.1 then try to open the setup page. Power cycle the router and see if that works.

Will not hook to my internet. we had a storm and lost power. now it will not connect back to netflix

Hi

This often happens with Routers and modems after a power cut.

Turn the router of and on again or press the reset button at he rear (some reset buttons are pressplates that you need a pen tip to press and hold for a few seconds).

After this, the router should reset itself and your internet access should be restored.

I hope this helps.

Hi, I am not sure if this is my problem but there seems to be a problem with the network key on my laptop. We are using a belkin N150 router and in the last 3 months or so have been having problems getting...

I think resetting the router to the factory defaults may fix the issue. Generally, after resetting to defaults, the router works fine, however, you have to setup security key etc.
First, to reset the router to factory default setting, press and hold the reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings wouls be restored.

Please note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure etc.
Please, refer the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Hi there,

This issue is called no sync issue. Which means there is no synchronisation between your computer and the router.

Try Changing the Microfilter
swap the Leds of the cabel which is connected between the router and the computer.
Call your internet service provider if issue is not fixed.

It appears lightening has damaged your router. Do you have a surge protected powerboard and do you plug all your computer equipment into this powerboard?
If you do not have a surge protection board, I suggest you install one to protect your equipment.

After many months suddenly lost internet connection. Powered all down as directed, then powered up slowly , in order given. Also reset router. Didn't work. What should I try next?

Start your browser, click on the "Tools" button. Scroll down to "Internet Options, Click on "Connections". Make sure the box that states "automatically detect settings" is checked. Make sure that nothing is checked below in "proxy server". Reboot and check your connection.

Actiontec GT704-WG wireless connection not working

Hi,
you say it suddenly stopped working, if you can connect to the router via ethernet cable then try to access the router's web utility page and make sure your router is in mixed or G-only. If you can't still connect to the router through wireless then try restarting the Wireless Zero Configuration from windows. This is how it's made: Go to control panel and double-click "administrative tools", then double-click "services". You will see a list, scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and click "stop", you'll see a progress bar. After that click "start", you'll see another progress bar. Now try connecting to your router via wireless connection. If you still can't connect then repair the connection by right-clicking the wireless icon at the bottom right corner. Keep repairing until you connect.
Hope this works!

No Lan/WAN connection

Unplug the router, wait 2 min, and plug it back in. If that work, on the back is a small hole, marked RESET. Using a pencil, or straightne out a large paperclip, press that the button inside gently. Hold it for 30 sec. Release and unplug the unit. Shut down the whole network. "Starting from the wall", power up the modem, wait 2 min, power up the router, and power up your machine. Your router should be at default now. Remember to reset you security, change the password, etc.
I have had to do this several times, sometimes unplugging the power, and plugging it back while holding the button. (Got 3 hand?)
Have you had a storm, or lightning issues lately? Sounds like it got a spike. Living the Florida, where lightning is very common, I have finally put my routers on a small UPS.
Good luck!
