Question about Frigidaire FWT449

I replaced drain pump due to broken vanes, now washer will not rinse

I replaced the drain pump on my washer with a redesigned pump (original design no longer available according to various sources) due to debris ($3.75 in change) getting sucked in it and breaking off the impeller vanes, but now the timer runs to the end of the wash cycle, drains the tub and just stops and buzzes, won't advance into rinse cycle. Did I miss something in the pump replacement or do I now have a bad timer?? Any help is Greatly appreciated!

Glad I didn't listen to this - another site suggested I start with the "basics" of diagnosis and I found that, unbeknownst to me, my helper had turned the cold water off at the wall and the reason the timer wouldn't advance was because 3 of the 4 temp settings rinse with cold water only so the water level never got high enough for the cycle to continue.

in the inital post dan says that the machine drained he did not say that the water in the washer was hot only since his helper turned off the cold water

should have been clearer on the full problem in his post

    a timer can buzz

a water valve can to if the valve is turned off

Loud and noisy when the wash cycle starts.

Slide the unit out from the wall and open the small access panel on the back, bottom left side. 98% of the noise problems from this model is do to the bad design on the drain pump which has since been redesigned and will need to be replaced. Here is the new pump.
This washer pump has been redesigned by the manufacture. The mounting plate is no longer required. It now mounts directly to the base of the washer.

FRIGDAIRE WASHER FRONT LOAD MODEL#GLTF1240ASO DOES NOT GO TO HIGH SPIN . A CHECKED DRAIN PUMP REPLACED DOOR SWITCH AND REPLACED SPEED CONTROL CHECKED BELT

Hi, are you sure your pump is operating properly any little thing caught in the impeller will stop these pumps. You also say there water still in the tub it will definitely not spin fast with water in the tub. Remove the pump and inspect the impeller sometimes there are things caught in it and other times the vanes are broken right off.

Water has started pouring out from under my washer

Hello, you've indicated this problem only arrises during the rinse cycle, is that correct ? The leak doesn't occur during the wash cycle initial fill level ? I want to distinguish the difference because there has been a repair tip issued by whirlpool for the duet and sport washer's. This may be applicable to your machine. If it is indeed only during the rinse, the problem is within the door assembly. Specifically the glass and it's "seat" to the frame. Let me know, I'll watch for your reply. macmarkus :)

Washer won't drain and go to spin cycle. Stops at rinse. model LXR7133JG1

Hi,

Although all brands are different in design, the basic concept is the same. Water comes in at the top, and goes out at the bottom. A pump forces the water to go in a particular direction. When a machine won't drain, there are several things to consider:

* Is the drain hose kinked?

* Does the lid switch click when closing?

* Something in the pump or hoses? Check the hose coming down from the tub for socks, rags, etc.

* Bad wigwag?

* Broken belt? Broken drive coupling?
* Current to motor? (Use voltmeter to check)

Thank You for contacting Fixya.com

Won't spin after wash cycle or rinse cycle

CHECK THE FOLLOWING---

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

Whirlpool Calypso washing machine keeps saying LD and will not complete its cycle. I have the motor replaced several time and I am hoping that it is not bad.....AGAIN.

LD - Long Drain - as when the pump is not running (jammed or clogged with debris, socks, or draw strings!) or when it has failed. Make sure, if you are having someone replace the pump motor, that they upgrade it with the redesigned motor that has the impeller and motor in a single part which cannot be separated. The original design was 2 parts and was a metal motor shaft into a plastic impeller socket that would strip when the impeller got jammed. There are several companies which sell the new design and for a small extra fee you can get a lifetime warranty on the pump assembly. Google for it.

Drain pump

You may have a problem with the pump vane not properly spinning on the drain pump shaft.  If you take out the drain pump and spin the vane in either direction, you should feel a resistance every time you turn it.  If you able to turn the vane one way and do not feel the resistance for at least half a turn, you may need to replace the drain pump.

the tub is mounted on shocks if you look in side the tub near where the tub seem is take the screws out of the vane and slide it foward and take it out look in the hole for foreign objects in between the inner and outer tub then follow this procedure to check the drain pump if you have a shop vac this is time to vacuum the water of the tub and all the way down the drain hole for the next stage usally i tell customers to remove the drain hose from the stand pipe and vacuum the water out of the washer from the drain hose but because of the pillow this might not work in your case. Now remove the two screws on the front lower panel and pull the panel
in side you will see the drain pump if you did not have a shop vac go to the auto parts store and buy a pair of radiator hose clamps and clamp the hose line as close to the washer as possible.(but put down some towels as water always stays there) then pull the tub to pump hose by depressing the squeeze clamp(now while your at the auto parts id get a screw clamp to replace the spring clamp it makes putting the hose back on a lot easier)pull the hose off. Then pull the pump to drain hose off .Remove the two 5/16 in screws securing the pump to the washer base.Unplug the connector and remove the pump inspect the pump for foreign objects, broken or stripped impeller blades . if the impeller are stripped you will have to replace the pump then form the front of the washer take a piece of water hose with one end cut off and run it down the pump to drain end of the drain and reassemble the unit
