Question about Smart Technologies SMART Board (PS242B)

Open Question

We are experiencing lag times when writing on our SMART Boards. We have tried changing resolution on the computers. Sometimes there has been some improvement, other times not. We also notice that there is more lag when we use scanned documents or previously-saved SMART Notebook lessons. Any thoughts?

Why tv guide shows channels but stopped showing the programmes that are on, and info about them. Also sometimes brings up different channel to selected one.

Yes. I have experienced the same problem from time to time, but not allot. It usually occurs when the cable company is performing an update to where all channel descriptions will display the words, "no info". Sometimes it occurs around 12 midnight. Sometimes there is a lag in time (5 seconds) from when I push the button to go to a channel from the guide, and when it actually happens (but again, not all the time).

I had the same issue with a Samsung 1580 BD player. Stopping the movie ans starting it again could sometimes solve the problem for a little while. The problem only occured when using bitstream sound. Switching to PCM never showed the problem. The player was faulty and was replaced by the shop.

Typing lags in quark

It sounds like your computer does not meet the recommended requirements. They are listed below for version 8:
  • G5 PowerPC processor or Intel processor (G4 minimum)
  • 1GB RAM (256MB minimum)
  • 1GB hard disk space
  • DVD-ROM drive
  • If you only meet minimum requirements then it is likely to lag as you are experiencing. To fix the problem you could try and install more memory in the system.

I just checked the specs on your Benq PB 6110, which has a native resolution of 800X600 and will simulate 1280X1024. When you connect it to your computer, the computer goes to 800X600, right? That is the resolution of the BenQ. How high a resolution do you want? THe highest I have seen in projectors is 1024X760, which is not that much higher. Projectors seem to lag behind monitors and Plasma/LCD/LED TVs for resolution. They must have a very small market share therefore low developement.

Sometimes the resolution changes to an unusual setting when an external monitor is attached. make the LCD screen your main monitor and change the resolution to 1024x768 or 600x800 whichever is best.

Try using the minimum supported refresh rate. Also set the resolution to the minimum that will please you (for example 1024x768). See whether the lag still occurs. (Use the nVidia control panel to change the settings). If there is no lag, you can increase the resolution step by step (if you feel the resolution is too low) and keep on increasing until lag occurs. Set the res just below that value.
