    Front connection.

  • dtorgeson Nov 04, 2010

Tried two different phones on front jack. No response. Speakers still work, even with headphones plugged in. Headphones don't show on mixer, either.

  • dtorgeson Nov 04, 2010

Tried two different headphones in front jack. no response. Headphones do not appear on mixer popup.

  • dtorgeson Nov 04, 2010

Don't have "Audio I/O" on mixer. Haven't looked at BIOS settings.

  • dtorgeson Nov 04, 2010

Don't see Realtek Control Panel per your screenshot.

  • dtorgeson Nov 04, 2010

Do not see Realtek on task bar. Only speaker icon. When opened, shows generic volume mixer. Indicates speakers and system sounds. I had Realtek mixer when I ran Win XP, so I know what I am missing. HP, MS, Realtek, and ASUS do not have drivers that will install Realtek Control Panel in Win 7, as far as I have seen. I have ability to operate in XP mode. Should I look there for different driver in order to restore controls?

  • dtorgeson Nov 04, 2010

NO Realtek HD Audio Manager on taskbar. Used to open when I was running Win XP. Not now with Win 7. Only show speakers and sounds. I have loaded MS XP virtual computer. Can I delete current driver for Realtek and load XP version to get Audio Manager back?

  • dtorgeson Nov 05, 2010

I've been directed to BIOS. I do not have "Chipset" under "Advanced." I do not have anything resembling "Southbridge Configuration," or "Panel Support Type." I have a Phoenix MOB. Previous tech just sends me same reply and wishes me luck. No real help.

All I want is the Realtek Controls that I had before Moving from XP to Win7.

  • dtorgeson Nov 05, 2010

HP page does not have driver for sound, only lightscribe. I am tired of trying your directions, and cannot accept any of your solutions. Bye now.

Hello

Are you plugging the headphones to the front plug of the machine? Try connecting the headphones into the speakers headphone jack or to the plug that the speakers are connected to. you should get sound.

If you have normal speakers and a USB headset, you might need to visit start -> control panel -> sound. and change the default sound playback device to the USB headset, and you should have sound in all programs that you open after that, try right clicking on the speakers there and select disable, that way it will definitely send the sound to the usb headset, if not, disable the rest of them as well.

let me know if you require further assistance or if the problem is not solved.

Click on this link below and then select your operating system. After you do that you can download the driver that runs your sound card and headphone jack. Use the Windows Vista sound driver and it will work with Windows 7

Please clarify, Where is the Headphones connected? Front or back? if you tried it on the Front port without success, Plug in the speaker jack to the port where you did connect the Headphone and verify it's working or not. You can also try the headphone on the port where the speaker is connected.

Awaiting.

Well, since it has a Realtek HD Audio Manager, there must be an option to disable or enable something from the User Interfaces, open the Mixture (Realtek HD Audio Manager), click "Audio I/O" and again open up " settings" and disable the "Disable Front Panel Jack Detection", save the settings and try again. If this doesn't work, we need to check the bios.

Some, Asus P5LP series motherboard is need to configure the Front Audio settings from the bios as the default is selected to Digital, instead of Analog. I'll update you with this method as I need to restart one of my system to verify the Sequences in the BIOS (I personally have one pc with Asus P5LP - AM/PS series, maybe they are more or less similar and the strangest of all is I never come across the instructions anywhere on the Manuals.).

    Till then Good luck.

    Awaiting your reply.

On Asus motherboard, the Realtek HD audio manager should look like this :

The "Audio I/O" menu is circled.

Actually, the UI must be different since your motherboard has 8-channels and this one has only 4 channels, the "settings" (spanner) tab should be beside the headphone icon below the "Front Panel" If this option isn't available, you better check the BIOS.

No problem, I've already restarted my computer and have verified the sequence. Reboot the system, press "Delete" key on the keyboard and go into the BIOS settings, select "Advanced" then, "Chipset" and again "Southbridge Configuration", and "Front Panel Support Type" and select "AC97" from the two options available under "Front Panel Support Type". Save the changes by pressing F10, restart the computer and check again.

I hope you know how to navigate through the Bios Setup, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight and press Enter to select the options.

Let me know if the problem persists.

    Once again, good luck.

I am confused which mixture you were talking about. Don't you see the Realtek HD Audio Manager on the Taskbar?

Finally I got the Article with the illustrated pictures.. Here it is (Click Here), this is as a general, and it's not specific to any motherboard brand/type.

I think you've made a mistake, it seems you've missed some of my latest posts, please click the "+ view more comments", or if you've already done that, I am sorry. In fact you didn't tell me the motherboard make and model, I was only assisting you assuming it as Asus since your PC model comes with that Motherboard. Anyway thanks.

I get sound from my headphones but not from my internal speakers on my compaq 610 OS win7

Hi Friend, In this case I would recommend you to please check if the default audio device is selected as Speakers instead of Headphones.
In order to check that please right click on the sound icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen and goto the sound dialog box and make sure that the default device is selected as Speakers instead of Headphones.
Please let me know if it was of some help.
Thank you.

I have Acer aspire 5741, OS: win7. The problem is that when I plug in headphones or 2.1 speakers the sound get worsed and I hardly could hear anything. I've insalled latest realtek sound drivers but that...

hi Dzhamal23.
you may need to setup the sound for your speakers.
First Check if your headphones work on rear audio panel or not. If they work there then you need to set your Realtek HD Audio to recognise your headphones. Do this:
Open Realtek HD Audio Manager from control panel or from notification area icon(a brown coloured speaker).
On the dialog box just below the close button there is written 'Device Advanced Settings' (no need to change the settings) and below this there is a Folder icon which shows tooltip text Connector Settings when you hover your mouse over it.
Click open the Dialog Connector Settings.
Tick the checkbox against Disable front panel jack detection and click OK.

i also found this on the internet.
So I have contacted Acer and I isolated the issue they dont support the issue but I have found through research that the motherboard has a problem relating to the headphone jack I have seen then listed for sale on Ebay with broken audio jacks I used a usb headphone set and received clear sound and after removing the third party software the speakers are sounding good too... if you have a nice set of mm headphones then you can buy an adapter that converts usb to mm so you can use them this way and that will prevent having to replace the faulty motherboard/audio jack

or go to this link and it will give you step by step on what to try out.

Dimension 4700 my headphones work fine but i cant

Are you have the headphones and speakers both pluged in? When you plug in headphones the speakers get muted. You need to change your sound settings back to your sound card if you use usb headphones. The plug on the front of the 4700 also automatically mutes the speakers.

Can 2.1 pc speakers work thru headphone jacks?

No it's not possible to have a sound. Because the HDMI and the Headphone (3.5mm jack) are on two different technologies.

The monitor does not have a way to convert the sound from HDMI to Headphone.

There could be a converter that might convert the sound signal from HDMI to headphone (but I'm not sure).

Sound still appear at speaker even when headphone was installed

Hello Again,

When you Plug in HeadPhones into the Laptop the Sound Playing should automatically Bi-Pass the Speakers and go Straight to the Headphones

-Unless there is a Faulty Input for the Speaker/ Headphone, Try Pushing in the Headphones More to see if the Speakers Turn Off

Hope this Works --P3NGYJ03
