Chris, The HT 24 Lock does not have a keyboard so this test is not relevant to your lock. This test feature is for an Onity lock with a numbered keypad.
Hope this helps. If you have any more problems or questions you can call me or send an email through my web site.

I have two brand new HT 24 locks that I can program. After I program it and swipe the card it only blinks red.
Is it instant red or delayed red?
Instant red (red light as soon as card in inserted) - This means the lock is reading the key and rejecting it for some reason.
-Take your portable programmer, put it on the screen that says "test" DO NOT HIT THE TX BUTTON.
-With the screen on "Test", swipe the key that is giving the red light as if you were going to unlock the door. On the screen it should tell you why the lock will not open with that key. It could be as simple as the key has been cancelled, is not valid for that lock, or has the wrong time and date. Check your key machine for the correct time and date.
Delayed Red (red light appears several seconds after the card is inserted)
-Generally this means that the lock is not even reading the keycard. Try a different keycard. Yours could be worn out. Also this could mean a bad read head in the lock.
-I have also seen this: If you are using a very old HT20 system to make keys, and the firmware version from the lock may not be compatible. It should be compatible but I have seen from time to time this problem.
Hope this helps. If not, call me.

If you do not have a keypad on the lockset (you do not), it is not an issue. This is a test for a CT lock that has a number keypad.
