INSIGNIA GPS NS-NAV01 DOES NOT TURN ON WITH THE CHARGER PLUG IN OR BY PRESSING THE RESET BUTTON

Unfortunately, Insignia cannot provide a download or replacement for lost GPS software as Insignia is only a licensee for it, not the owner.

Their website doesn't work how it should as this is a discontinued product.

How do I update my maps?

• A map update is currently being created for this GPS. When an update is available, you will find information about it on the Insignia website, http://insigniaproducts.com/products/car/NS-NAV01.html

Unfortunately the only real solution is to return this product for another. Insignia does not provide download support in the form of firmware or otherwise for these devices.

There is, however, another solution: These devices run WinCE, and can easily be brought back to a better life with free software like pocketnav or miopocket, The latter being my personal preference.

The reset hole is located on the bottom center-right of your unit. I suppose you've already tried that, but just in case, try holding down the button for 10-15 seconds. Try it more than once if needed. Make sure external power is connected also.

Since many of these Insignia units came from Best Buy, and may have a one year warranty, try that route for service. If you need the manual for this unit, get it here:

The easiest map update route for these units is through Best Buy and their "Geek Squad" Technicians(?). I know this model has not really been out that long, and the maps are a little dated. I know, because I two of them, but they seem to handle most of the routing I need.

Anyway, if you technically-minded, try this site, although I can't vouch their info:

The update program should be located on www.insigniaproducts.com.

Just perform a search for the model number of your unit when on this site and you should be able to get the necessary files.
