The internal clock runs off the battery, so if the battery is dead, then the clock won't be able to hold the current time accurately. Unfortunately, replacing the battery on a laptop motherboard is not as easy as it is for a desktop. With a desktop, you can usually just take the cover off, find the battery and replace. Laptops are so compact that if you try to take one apart, you risk dislodging something or forgetting where a piece will go.
I would check with some of the office supplies store or electronics store and see how much a fix like this would cost. Or even find a computer repair place nearby you. Assuming that is the only problem, I can't imagine it being too expensive.
Good luck.
It needs a new motherboard battery, usually a CR2032.
Probably accessed via removing a plate of the bottom or the keyboard, best to consult your user manual first.
