I needed to quickly turn my laptop off, so I took out the battery, and put it back in. It won't turn on, with or without the AC adaptor. I've also tried blowing where the AC adaptor goes, and the battery. The battery does have a slightly shorter life span.

Hi There, If you've got a multimeter - test your AC adapter to see if it is outputting the correct voltage for your laptop. If it is, Then you've got an HP boat anchor. Unfortunately HP laptops are known for their overheating issues, and if this is the case, a lawsuit filed against said manufacturer means you may be able to be compensated for your loss.
take battery out, unplug ac adapter. Wait one minute. leave battery out. Plug in ac adapter and turn on laptop. Once it turns back on. Shut down laptop and put battery back in. Now you should be able to turn laptop on with or without battery.
Try first to remove the battery and connect the AC adapter to your laptop, you will use the power supply directly from the AC adapter without the battery. Turn on your laptop, then if its working normally as it should be,
Then try now to install back the battery then connect the AC adapter, turn it on. If still does not work, perhaps you have a problem with the battery.
welcome to fixya,
as u said that ur laptop is not working and it is not booting,i mean is it a dark screen or do u see the lights on the computer, can u clarify me pls...u can try and safe mode and if it doesnt load in safe mode then what u can do is that disconnect the ac adaptor and take out the battery and then without ac adaptor and the battery press and hold down the power button for one minute and then release the power button and then connect the power cord and put the battery back in and then turn on the computer, and if still it doesnt turn on then try and connect with the different wall outlet and if still doesnt turn on then try with the different ac adaptor and still if it doesnt work then replace the motherboard and the ac adaptor.
the vr\ery first thing what u have to do is that disconnect the ac adaptor and take the battery out of the computer and then press and hold down the power button without the battery and the adaptor for one minute and then connect the ac adaptor and put the battery back in and then try and turn it on and what u can do is that try and turn on the computer only with the battery and then take the battery out and try and turn it on only with the adaptor, and then what u can try is that try with the different adaptor having same configuration, and try and connect the ac adaptor into the different wall outlet....good luck
very first thing u have do is if u have any other laptop try and connect the aac adaptor with that laptop and also try the battery if it is working with the other laptop that means the motherboard of the computer has gone bad u need to replace it and what also u can try is disconnect the ac adaptor and take out the battery from the laptop and the without ac adaptor and the battery press and hold down the power button for one minute and then connect the ac adaptor and put the battery back in and then try and turn on the computer and also what u can do is shut down the computer first and then just hit the power butoon once only to turn it on and then keep tapping f8 key on the keyboard and it will take u to windows advance options and select safe mode with networking and then try if it turns on to the windows screen or not......and if it doesnt turn ono then definately replace the motherboard...good luck....
The blinking orange battery light generally indicates that the battery isn't working properly, usually going out and not charging properly. In this case, since the adapter will not power the machine without the battery, and it should, I'm going to say that the adapter is going out and not getting the proper amount of power to the system. Try replacing the adapter. Be sure to replace it with a Dell replacement, the Targus brand universal adapters do not work well with Dell machines, and in most cases won't work at all.
