Question about GE Profile 25.6 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water - Stainless-Steel

1 Answer

I made chicken broth last night and didn't let it cool properly before putting the broth in the refrigerator. About 7 hours later when I woke up this morning, the refrigerator was hot and most of the items that were above where I'd placed the broth were hot also (butter melted). The freezer seems to be fine and still producing cold air, but the refrig is still hot. Did I break something or is there a reset button or do I just have to wait? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Heather

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp. The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

How is chicken noodle soup made?

When I make chicken soup I MAKE ALOT. So I will condense this recipe down to 4 servings. I use white and dark meat, so her we go: 3 chicken br**sts or 2 chicken br**sts and 2 thighs. Boil your chicken in a large pot, with 30 ounces of chicken broth or stock. When done take chicken out and add 2 diced medium carrots, 2 diced celery stalks, and 1 small onion. Boil the veggies until the carrots are tender. Some people like to saute the veggies in oil before they go into the soup, but I like doing it this way...it's your choice. And now you can cop your chicken or shred it back into the broth. Add 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper to it. If you want to add rice or noodles to your soup I suggest cooking them first until they are done then add them to your soup. Both of these ingredients take up the broth when they cook. You will end up with a mess and not soup. The noodles may end up mushy and the rice will consume all of your broth and it will eat more like a casserole than soup. If you want to add rice, add 1/2 cup of raw rice but add another 32 ounces of broth, same with 1 cup of noodles, but make sure the broth is boiling good before you add them.

Find how long you can keep food in the freezer after you have bought it?

Most things can last several weeks. Many foods do just fine for several months. But all foods start to lose flavor. In particular, prepared products like, say, chicken nuggets or French fries, things high in oil content and lower in water content, will stay tasting the same longer. As will most meat. But there are many exceptions. For example, frozen concentrated juice and chicken broth should last quite a while, like six months or much longer. Don't worry about it; as the weeks go by, just try to be a good home economist and choose to eat older items from the freezer first rather than exactly what you might want to eat for a particular meal.

Too much salt in my chicken soup. How do I reduce it?

Add unsalted chicken STOCK, not broth. Broth is already salted, which will not help you. Stock is not seasoned, so it will dilute the salt (and other seasonings), but keep the soup from becoming watery.

Does anyone have an easy chicken soup recipe for me?

Chicken soup is one of the easiest things to make.
Take a whole cut up chicken, remove the skin and place it in a large pot. Fill the pot with water and two large pinches of salt and one of pepper. Add 3 chopped carrots, 2 chopped cerery and some parsley. Sometimes, if I want the soup to be a little thicker I'll add a cut up potato that will dissolve and thicken the broth. Cover it and let it simmer for 3 to 6 hours.
