Question about Sony DVP-NS57P
This DVD player worked fine for years. Lately, however, it sometimes loses color and plays color DVDs in black and white. A DVD sometimes even goes from color to black and white and back again while viewing. There is no pattern to this that I can discern. Is there a way to fix this? the cable of the dvd contain 3 lines red white and yellow but my tv has only two white and yellow , some dvds appear in black and white and some in color but the most of them the dvd play them in black&white so what can i do
Try to check the TV system it might be set to PAL or NTSC...

Since you're using a composite cable (yellow RCA) that carries both luma (brightness) and chroma (color) information, it's not the cable that is the problem.
That means it's either the DVD player itself, or the TV. If you have another video device (VCR, etc) that you can connect to the TV, try that. If the other device also goes from color to black and white, then it's your TV. Otherwise the problem is your DVD player.
Since your TV only has mono audio (white RCA, but no red) I would recommend getting a new TV if the TV is to blame.

if you are using S-video cables for your video, try replacing the cable. svideo has 2 lines in it, one for color (chroma) and another for brightness (or black and white-ness (lumina) if one of those little pins is broke, or missing, or the cable is bad, this may be the case.
