Question about Canon Cameras

1 Answer

Hi I have a canon Rebel XT camera. If you take a picture and then press the play to view the picture, the camera freezes up and you can no longer take any pictures at the same time the red CF light stays on and flickers. You have to remove the battery and replace it for the light to go off. Also the screen does not start up after you have taken a picture. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong? Hi this sounds practical the only problem is how do I format the card as I cannot view anything on the screen to access the menu functions?

    Regards
    Basil

Will try that and let you know what happens thanks

Ok just bought a card reader and tried to format the card it starts the format process and then comes up with the error message that windows cannot format this drive.
Is it possible that the card itself is damaged?
    Regards

    Basil

Did you try formatting the card? It sounds like that is the source of the problem. I have seen this one before so I am 99.99% sure.

You can get a card reader(costs about 5 bucks), put the card in it, connect to PC, right click on the removable drive(card reader shows up as a removable drive) and format. Simple isn't it? All it takes is walk to the local computer/mobile store.

Yes I told ya! The card is the source of the problem. Get a new card and it will resolve the problem.

I have a Canon XT Rebel, I just want to find out if you can see the picture you want to take on the display before taking it?

Sorry, the Rebel XT does not have the live view feature. This is a relatively new development in dSLRs and the XT missed the cutting edge.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

How do i swap from eye view to screen for picture taking where is the button located to swap from one view to the other i dont have the manual cannon eos rebel xt

There is no such button. The Rebel XT operates as SLRs have operated for half a century: you compose through the viewfinder, the mirror flips up when you press the shutter button, etc.

You can download a manual from http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=ModelFeaturesTabAct&fcategoryid=215&modelid=11209#DownloadDetailAct

How can you use the LCD screen in lieu of looking through the view finder to take pictures. This is for a Canon EOS Rebel XT.

Im afraid your camera does not have live view so therefore you will have to use the viewfinder to take your images and view them back on the lcd screen.

When I turn my camera on, the lcd doesn't display. I can review an image though in the play mode. any ideas??

Rebel XT doesn’t have live view function. You cannot have picture on LCD when taking picture. If you can review the pictures and operate menu on LCD, your camera just fine.

No LCD image when switched on

The 350D doesn't have this Live View function. You can however, playback photos you've captured on the camera. Pressing the "play" button ought to show those pictures. If nothing appears, make sure you have images on the CF card. If you do but nothing shows up, the LCD is faulty and needs the Canon tech to look at.

View screen on back

The XT does not have a "live view" feature. You have to use the viewfinder.
The LCD is strictly for data and picture viewing.

Internal memory

To LanaJones123

I'm afraid the Canon Rebel does NOT have an internal memory for storing pictures. Any pictures taken without a card installed will be lost.
