A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

However, if you're trying print but the print status screen only goes partial, try to follow the steps below to fix the issue:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)

4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh. Try print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Good job in re-seating the cartridges into the printer. Try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if your other cartridge has gone bad.

It shows E4 and I cant print my stuff out

Since you did not say which printer this is, I am guessing that it is a Canon:

Unplug the printer for at least 2 minutes from the wall.

2. Plug the printer back in but leave the printer turned off.

3. Enter Service Mode

a. Hold Stop/Reset button and the Power button for 5 seconds

b. Release Stop/Reset button but continue to hold Power button

c. Press Stop/Reset twice

d. Release the Power Button

e. Wait for the light to stop flashing. The printer is now in service mode. The display may be blank or simply read "Canon" during this time.

4. Do an EPROM reset.

a. Press the Stop/Reset button 3 times.

b. Press the Power button twice. The printer will save the changes and then it will reboot. A little cd/dvd icon will appear in the LCD screen.

3. The printer will probably now require the same setting up as when you first unpacked it. That is, you will need to select a language and let the printer do a head alignment.

My HP LaserJet M1522nf worked fine for 2 months and now all of a sudden it has stopped. It turns on but the screen just says Hewlett Packard and does nothing. the ready light and the exclamation light...

It is probably a formatter board (the main circuit board) problem. This is very common with this model of printer. The printer should either be serviced by a technician or replaced. If the printer is still under warranty, contact HP for support.
