Layer of frost on the bottom surface of ice maker

I have a year old GE side by side model GSH 22 JSTSS. Recently noticed a layer of frost on the under side of the ice maker. Also see minor frost on the sides and on packages. Is this normal? What should I do? Still seems to cool well enough

My icemaker and the dispenser both frost up causing my freezer door not to open at times, and also the ice will only come out crushed and not cubed.

During periods of high humidity and or high use, it is not unusual to notice frost on surfaces in the freezer. the ICM is susceptible due to it being metal and having warm(compared to freezer temp) water in it. make sure the doors ar closed tight and nothing is stuck in the gasket area.

Sounds like an internal mounting spring for the compressor. Only solution is replacing the compressor. However the compressor can run in this condition for years. Replacement compressors only have a one year warranty. A new refrigerator comes with a five year warranty.

Sub-Zero 550 - freezer unit is chilling, but not freezing

Ice maker was intermittent at best - ice was often just a shell. After two failures to correct we had the ice maker (a Whirlpool - on a Sub Zero - Go figure) replaced. Then the paddle that detects the ice level broke. Next step a new GE.

GE Side by side runs constantly.

EASY FIX!!! The drain is clogged up. All you have to do is take the back wall to the freezer off (lower section in freezer) And you will see another layer of frozen ice at the bottom (behind back wall). Get you a hair dryer and start melting. After a few minutes u will start to see a drain whole(size of a nickle in middle) concentrate you efforts on the drain hole. Now get some wire or something and stick down in hole, then pull out over and over till finally it drains all the build up water around the hole! GOODLUCK!!!
