Determine if an analog receiver has blown a channel

When you need to replace the output transistors, do them both at the same time with a matched pair. That way you won't unbalance the power supply and will be assured of the same power out is available on both channels.

I have a 1990 Technics SA-GX300 receiver that powers on, can be controlled with the remote, but produces no output from any of the input sources. I have been using it as an amplifier for a Zone 2 Bose

27+ is really quite old for electronics, a number of things could have gone but from your description i'm tempted to say the output chips have overheated or blown.... other things to consider with aged audio is the electrolytic capacitors drying out and also causing problems in the audio chain.

Proper procedure for hook up to Au 719 sansui amp

This is an integrated amplifier so you connect both of your speakers to the speaker outputs making sure that you keep them in phase. Red or plus terminal on speaker to red or plus terminal on Amp and the same with the other channel. Then connect your input devices as they are marked on the rear of the amp. You didn't mention what devices you are trying to connect to it so give additional info if you need more help.

Pioneer SA100 integrated - low, distorted output

At this point, I would be looking at the main power suply for the final output stage. You may be attempting to drive the output with the driver section rather than the final amp stage. The center pin of the output transistors should have B+/B- on them. Measure that to ground and report the value here.

Marantz SR19 no sound?

When replacing output transistors on amplifiers it is generally a good practice to replace the output capacitors as well as the biasing resistors. Just because one transistor is bad does not mean that that is the whole problem. Look for what caused the problem. Bad speakers, bad wires, defective traces on circuit board, poor soldering. Also when mounting the transistor make sure it is insulated and grease it with a dab of silicone heat sink compound. Whenever I service a board I examine all components for tolerance as well. A resistor marked at 1% tolerance, example 1k ohm + or - 1% should read no less than 990 ohms and no more than 1010 ohms. Anything else your asking for trouble. Another point is that some amplifiers use matching pairs. Pairs complement each other in an output stage and must be replaced in pairs. I repaired a Sansui Amplifier a while back and it looked as if a power output resistor was burned. Comparing the two channels I figured the matching value from the other side and replaced all of them and the system has worked flawlessly for years now. I am a retired electrical engineer and have worked in a few areas of electronics for over 35 years. Hope this information helps you.

SANSUI AMP AU-D11-II

It is possible, but nlikely that the protection circuit is bad. More common are shorted output transistors or defective driver stage transistors. This should not be a difficult repair for anyone familiar with audio amps. Unsolder/remove Q22 and Q23 and measure the voltages at each of the 3 pads per transistor and post them here.

Thanks,
Dan

Lightning strike to powered console.

On a generic level, without knowing the specifics of your equipment, I.E. amp & mixer make/model, you start at the mixers input stage. If an amplifiers output transistors die, they usually cause the amp to trip or blow a fuse, the weakest point in the system. If the amp is not doing this then the chances are, it's an line level problem, mixer related.  Again, you have to list the equipment you have in order for me to be more specific.
