You Probably have the wire's mixed up, like yellow in white or something, either that or the wires aren't pushed in the thing all the way. Try that.

Connect a Wii to VCR

Hello
Take the Wii's audio/video cable and the power cord and hook them up in the back of the Wii.
Take the Wii's audio/video cable and plug it into the 'audio-in and video-in sockets on your VCR.Make sure you match the cable colors with the input colors.i.e white goes with white, yellow with yellow and red with red.
Take the RCA cable which looks like the picture below,

and plug one end of this audio/video cable into the 'audio out' and 'video out' ports on the VCR.Make sure the cable and ports colors match.
Now take the other end of the RCA cable and plug into the 'audio in' and 'video in' ports on your TV.Again make sure you match the color connections.

Hope it helps.

I got a wii and tried to hook it up to my toshiba tv and when i turned on my wii it was black and white and im positive i have it set up correct or if its just the cords itself the colors are blue green...

Make sure the plugs EXACTLY match the jacks on the TV. If you plug just the green cord into the TVs yellow jack, you will get black and white. If your tv has a combo jack (uses the green of a component input, make sure that the tv is on the right input (COMPONENT and not VIDEO).

let me know.

When i turn it to tv it has color but when i turn it to my wii it shows no color just black and white and YES i have a color tv !!!! help !!!!

This problem typical indicates that there is an issue with the connection from the Wii to the TV. This problem can result from a few different situations. The most common cause comes about when the ends of the RCA or Composite cable are connected incorrectly. Both cables are color coded so make sure there plugged into there corresponding inputs (Blue and green can look very similar in low light). Another common problem is when the RCA cable is incorrectly connected to a composet cables set up inputs. If the wire your using has the colors white, red, and yellow than it's an RCA. If the wire has red, green, and blue than it's composite. Composite cables are used for HD TV's. If you do not have the correct cable for your TV one can be purchased at target or any similar store.

I hope the info listed above has helped in some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

I bought a Nintendo Wii off of a guy and I didn't realize when I did that it came with Hi-Def RCAs. My TV only has a standard RCA hookup. I was told that I could still use the Hi-Def RCAs but what colors...

Those are not High Def RCAs.

The cables you received are called "component" when the picture is broken down to its component colors, red, green, and blue.

When compared to "composite" cables (RCA), the yellow is all the components in one, which is the video cable. The other red and white are audio.

Your component should be RGB, Red & White (audios)

What you need to do is buy a composite cable for the Wii, which shouldn't cost that much--usually under $10 bucks. Save the component cables for when you get a new TV since those are the more expensive of the two!

No Color Picture

Are you using the Red/Green/Blue cables or are you using the Red/Yellow/White?

Also make sure you are matching the colors up correctly. If you find that you only have two of the three RYW, try hooking it up to another AV jack on the side or front of the new TV. If you are using the RGB, sometimes in low light settings, the blue and green are easily mixed up.

Another thing you might want to try is changing your settings on your tv for NTSC as it might be set up for PAL.

Plays in black and white only

Hi, the colors on the cable you have are colors used for an audio cable, the purple is a dead giveaway it is used for a subwoofer. The Wii doesn't split the outputs into composites which is why you are not getting color. It is like the difference between mono and stereo. Get a new cable with the video all in the yellow connection and this will fixsya!

New system - no color on screen

the cable colors have to match the tv ones if you have different colors on cables then look for the label on the cables saying video or audio (red)=audio (white)=other audio (yellow)=video EXAMPLE if the cable colors are different than the tv then if the label on the cables say video and the color is blue etc. then you have to put it on the yellow putin on the tv no matter the color. If it dosent work then try holding the cables in many angles try pulling them or anything unlit they work get something to hold them up if that dosent work then i think you should buy new cables. Screen losing color.. turning black and white

Your TV goes black & white, because your Wii could be NTSC or PAL which. If your Wii is PAL and your TV is NTSC then the TV will show a blac and white color. Since NTSC is for North America and PAL for Asia
