Program that was installed by bestbuy.

Best Buy installed Trend Micro onto my laptop computer. I had to do a system restore on the computer, so it wiped out all of my programs. I tried to install Trend Micro, and it says I need a password. Is there a general password that they use for that program?

Generally, when you purchase a new system, it will either come with a full version of a program(for which you should have registration/authentication info in your computer documentation), or a demo version(Usually a time-limited free trial.)

If your username/password for the Trend Micro application aren't listed anywhere in your paperwork, you will need to contact Best Buy/Geek Squad support by phone, or take the system in to the store where you purchased the system.

I love my netbook! I tried to download Microsoft security essentials(free antivirus download.) To do so, I has to uninstall Trend Micro that came with my netbook(bought it 2 weeks ago!) i was unsuccessful...

Assuming that the version of Trend Micro that was pre-installed was the free trial version, you may be better off now and in the long-term by installing a free antivirus program that won't expire.
I usually recommend Avast as a solution for anyone who doesn't need or want to invest in higher performance antivirus and Internet security.
However, if you really want to get that Trend Micro installation back, if you have a CD/DVD for restoring your netbook back to the factory installation, you should be able to use that to revert your netbook to that fresh state (with Trend Micro installed).

PROBLEM INSTALLING TREND MICRO INTERNET SECURITY PRO .

I hope your saying you went to add remove programs and uninstalled
it. You just cant delete program files, and usually windows won't let you.

Try to reinstall the software, and then use windows uninstaller, then re install again.

Any anti-virus will leave registry keys behind and sometimes they cause problems.

After you do this you should clean the registry, this is the best free cleaner thee is.

Make sure your system restore is turned on, then make a restore point, then run the cleaner.

If you need anymore help just post it.

Trend Micro PCCillan turned off and won't turn back on

1. go to http://esupport.trendmicro.com/Pages/How-do-I-remove-old-or-new-versions-of-Trend-Micro-products-in-my-comp.aspx and follow the instructions on how to remove the software.

2. upgrade to 2009 if your computer meets the minimum system requirements. use the same serial number and account information when prompted.

1. make sure that the previous installation is inactive
2. since this is a new computer, upgrade to the Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 version. use the same serial number and remember to create a NEW account when prompted.

Trend micro internet security 2008

Dear Sir/Madam,

This error will appear if you have installed the 16.05 version of
Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, Trend Micro Internet Security and
Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008 on a computer running
Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or Window XP with Service Pack 3.


The Trend Micro Personal Firewall and the Unauthorized Changes
Prevention features main components do not work with the new service
packs from Microsoft.


A working version of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, Trend Micro
Internet Security and Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008 with
Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3 would be released sometime in
February 2008.


The release would be timed before Microsoft uploads the new service
packs in their automatic update servers for Windows.


To prevent this message from appearing, follow the steps indicated
below:


a.Check the program version of the Trend Micro program installed on
your computer.


b.If you are using version 16.05 and you want to continue using this
latest version of the Trend Micro program, you must uninstall the non-
working service pack from Microsoft.


c. If you do not want to remove the new Microsoft service packs, Trend
Micro suggests that you uninstall the Trend Micro program installed in
your computer and install PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 until the
release of the working version.

TROJ_VUNDO.BMF virus downloaded from limewire

This is a reference to PC-Cillin / Trend Micro ("TM"). Are you running Trend Micro PC-Cillin on your computer. Are you using more than one anti-virus program? You should only use one as they will conflict with each other.

Try getting in through Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key while the pc is rebooting. Once in uninstall and reinstall your anti virus program.

Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 14 loading but never loaded

I had a similar problem and this worked for me
with Trend Micros Internet Security.

You will have to uninstall the program first then reinstall it, otherwise it
will hang and cause problems with your computer.

In order to uninstall it do these steps.
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > System Configuation.
Makes sure you select Selective Startup, and that Load Startup Items is unchecked.
Click OK, and you should be prompted to reboot.

After you reboot and the system is loaded your Virus Software icon will NOT
be in the taskbar trying to load.

Now go into control panel > Programs and Features.
Find the virus program, hightlight and select the uninstall option.
After its done doing that go back into the Control Panel >
Administrative Tools > System Configuration. Select Normal Startup
and hit the OK button.

Reboot again when you see the button prompt.
Now, after the system comes up, reinstall your virus software,

You should be good to go from there.
The process is for Vista, but if your running Windows XP it is very similar.

2008 Trend Micro Internet Security not compatable to Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3.
