Program that was installed by bestbuy.

Best Buy installed Trend Micro onto my laptop computer. I had to do a system restore on the computer, so it wiped out all of my programs. I tried to install Trend Micro, and it says I need a password. Is there a general password that they use for that program?

Generally, when you purchase a new system, it will either come with a full version of a program(for which you should have registration/authentication info in your computer documentation), or a demo version(Usually a time-limited free trial.)

If your username/password for the Trend Micro application aren't listed anywhere in your paperwork, you will need to contact Best Buy/Geek Squad support by phone, or take the system in to the store where you purchased the system.

How to resolve Page Cannot Be Displayed Error Caused by Trend Micro Internet...


Here’s a tested resolution to the Trend Micro – No internet connectivity issue:

In this case it was Windows 7 with Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010.

Right click on the Trend Micro tray icon and choose “Exit”.
Make sure you can get online.
Start Trend micro from the start menu or desktop icon.
Go to the firewall settings under “Home Network & Firewall Controls” *
Click “settings”
Click “advanced settings”
Go to the “Program control” tab
Locate and remove anything that shows “blocked”
Go to the “Network Protocol Control” tab
Locate and remove anything that shows “blocked”
Click OK.
Update the software by clicking “update now” on the main window (Overview) and make sure system shows “Protected” **
Restart the computer and try to go online again.
If successful, you’re done J

Is your system heating up? You may have a hardware issue or corrupt system file/drivers or low spec computer for all the programs you are running.
First remove your battery and try running your computer, if the problems stops,you need a battery replacement. If the problem persists you may want to back up your personal information and reload your operating system. If this sounds intimidating I suggest that you remove trend micro from your system and install AVG 8.5 Free antivirus first .

Recent trouble with downloads


I suggest you use System Restore, to remove Trend PCillin. (any files and folders will not be affected by this procedure).

Run system restore as follows:

Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, select System Restore. Choose a restore point on a date before you installed the problem program. The procedure should take about 15 minutes.

SpySweeper Anti Virus conflicts with Trend Micro AntiVirus


I would remove Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro. Then I would install the free versions of AVG, Ad-aware 2008, WinPatrol SpyBlaster and ScrubXP .

I have been using this combo for years and have had no problems as long as you keep them updated.

This is a reference to PC-Cillin / Trend Micro ("TM"). Are you running Trend Micro PC-Cillin on your computer. Are you using more than one anti-virus program? You should only use one as they will conflict with each other.

Try getting in through Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key while the pc is rebooting. Once in uninstall and reinstall your anti virus program.

Try to uninstall windows live (messenger) reboot and see if that helps, there HAVE been some issues reported with this.
