Not having the spec's or model of your gateway
I would look for a wire lead inside your case that would be coming from the front most are blk/red and marked pwr/led this could have worked itself lose off the pins on the motherboard.
Being I don't have the model gateway I can not tell you where the right jumper is or setting would be for it if it did come off. The other could be power supply or motherboard itself.

Word of caution: When working inside the computer wear static free strap and touch metal to ground yourself. Not to cause static inside around motherboard or any of the components insides.
This is only a speculation without knowing much about the model

Hello Jeff,

If your computer does the same problem after each cold start or every after sometime, that tells you that the power supply is working fine.

If so, well... check the CMOS Battery inside try replacing it must be 3V to maintain the BIOS settings of your computer. Also, clean the heat-sink of the processor if necessary to avoid overheating.

After that try to switch the computer ON. Post us back if there are problems, also don't forget to rate us so we could continue helping others.... good luck.

Without a specific system designated I can only give a General answer.

On desktop/Tower systems, if there is NO POWER indication when attempting to turn on the system, the most likely point of failure is the power supply.

ATX power supply is about $30 and most are a one size fits all, but there are some variations in case design for low and high end systems
