Question about Mitsubishi WS-48311 48" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Bad color TV was unplugged for a week. Now the color is off. Adjustments haven't helped. Green is now brown. Don't know if it is the TV or the cable hookup.

I'm sorry, I should've added someone had unplugged everything to move the tv. The color problem happened when I reconnected everything. I finally found the trick to narrow down prob..tried a dvd & found color was fine, so it was cable connections. I kept changing around cables till I found that 2 red Hi-Def plugs were the problem. Appearantly they were reversed. Thanks for trying! The DVD test did the trick to narrow down the problem...it wasn't the TV after all.

Turn the color level all the way down and see if you have a good black and white picture. If your screen isnt black and white it should have a predominate tint to it. then turn the screen control for that color down to achieve the best black and white picture. then adjust your color level that should help.

Green tint

Go to a channel that is in black and white and turn color all the way off.

Screen should be a black and white or gray color.

If green there is a fairly easy way to adjust--let me know what you find and I will tell you how to attempt the adjustments.

If you have a DVD player you can do a test to see if you have a bad tuner in the TV. Using Red, White, and Yellow cables hook up your DVD player to the corresponding jacks on the back of the DVD player and INPUT on the back of the TV with corresponding jacks as well. Turn on the DVD and TV and go to the TV menu and find the input that you have the red, white, and yellow jacks hooked to and see if you get a picture from your DVD player. If you do get a picture you probably have a bad tuner in your TV (if you are sure your cable signal is good). This setup bypasses the tuner. Let me know how it goes. And if you haven't done so be sure you have the right input for your cable signal correct in the menu as well.

No red when hooking up component cable for dlp hd tv. Only blue and green colors show on hd component input for charter hd cable box. Are there any internal adjustments that need to be made through either...

Check the red cable this is where the red comes from, you may have a bad cable, maybe use the blue or green one just to see if the red will come through, it can be the cable box or the tv or the cable itself.

The only time I have had issues like this was because of the Component Cables not being in the right position (the Red and Blue connections switched), or a bad Component Cable where the Blue Connection is not receiving a signal. Swap out the cable to be sure and double check that it is properly installed. Green to Green, Red to Red , Blue to Blue.
Hope this helps,
