What you need to do is go to the manufactures website and download the latest version of the firmware for your player and reflash your player with it. BUT make sure that you back up fils that are already on it so that when you reflash the player you wont lose anything. Hope this helps.

The video must be a MPG (MPEG), AIV, WMV, ASF, SVI, MP3, RM (RMVB), MOV or SMF type of video. If it is not, try and find or download a video converter. Also remember on Samsung Media Studio click menu, enviorment settings, general configuration, my PC and make sure that you have checked in all the checkboxes of video file types

I've heard of this problem. The operationg system or part of it is on the hard drive so if something happens to the data the unit gets stuck at the opening window.
A suggestion I've read about is to open the unit and try and reconnect the ribbon cable to the drive, it's a push on job apparently.
Of course, this will invalidate your guarantee AND may not solve the problem.
I've not done it myself so can't give any firsthand advice.
The PVR h140 works on mpeg1 or mpeg4 format.
If you need to convert avi files for example you will need a third party conversion programme such as Nero7 or similair free programmes.
