This would generally be the solution if it were a vertical line rather than horizontal. Worth a shot anyway. Go into the maintenance area of your printer properties. ( sometimes easier to hit "troubleshooting" from printer properties and access the maintenance from there). Do a nozzle check. Try doing a printhead clean or nozzle clean. Now do a nozzle check again. The purpose is just to ensure that the actual cartridge is printing how it should. The cartridges are the problem with printers 99.9999% of the time (slight exageration maybe).

You could try flushing out the ink jet heads and see if a nozzle is clogged.

You could take the inkjets out and lightly clean the printer heads with a tissue or a qtip dipped in some water. Make sure none of the Qtip or tissue is left on the head.

If those steps dont work you should replace the printer cartridge.

If you still get a line after doing these three things, there could be something going on with the ribbon cable that makes the inkjet work.

Buy and HP. Seriously though, you can look in the printer and should see a small thin plastic strip that looks tinted and sits behind the path of the print cartridge carriage. This strip has many vertical lines the printer counts to know it's position on the path. If this is dirtied with ink, a common problem, the printer can skip lines due to an inability to shine light through and count them. If this look inky, wipe it with a damp paper towel and COMPLETELY dry it. Unplugging the printer while the carriage is in motion will give you the ability to slide if freely. Good luck.

I have a Dell all in one 922 printer When I try

If your device is out of warranty, I'd suggest to clean the rollers again completely. What I mean is to remove the scanner lid and back cover, then clean all of the rubber rollers gently with alcohol and swabs.

Very fine horizontal black lines superimposed over text printing.

Print at a higher resolution. Clean the print heads, check the print alignment.

My printer is printing horizontal black lines over everything??? Help!

Restart the printer and the computer.
This might be a problem because your data cable is not fully inserted into the computer/ and or the printer.
Make sure that it is connected fully.

Problem Printing word documents

yes..I agree...that line through the letters sounds like something from the font settings in word...do you have True type fonts selected? The landscape issues sound odd too, but I'm sure it's on the word settings side, not the printer.

Dell 922 aio printer

it's unusual to have same problem if completely uninstalled printer(removing printer, then uninstalling, after which use printer installation cd then re connect printer when prompted). If you have a spare usb port install software then connect printer to a different usb port. Lastly try; go to printers and faxes folder>right click on printer icon>properties>advanced, then click the radio button 'Print Directly to the Printer' and see if it prints. Also make sure this printer is set to default printer Try an updated driver, if any, from the Lexmark web site, as they are the same printer without the Dell logo. Your rating is appreciated.
