Question about JVC AV-36950 TV
Television shut itself off this morning. Timer light was flashing. Television will not turn on with remote or using the switch. Unplugging the television for a short time only caused the timer to stop blinking.
Any help appreciated. It seems like it is common problem but have not read a response that was helful.
Hi there, yes this is common. I dont know how much technical expirence you have, but be very careful there are many circuits that have high voltage on them, even when off, and these voltages can be lethal, especially any thing that is connected directly to the A.C. line [such as the primary of the power supply]. most of the rest of the set is isolated from the A.C. line. so be careful. now for the tecnical part, most common is a failure of the vertical circuit, the shorted IC will cause the set not to come on in order to protect the power supply. after you replace the IC and any resistors and diodes that may have failed as a result of the bad IC, change any caps related to the vertical circuit, they will be 100, 220, or 47 mfd @ 35 volts or so. lastly check the zener diode that is connected across the output of the IC for leakage or shorts. It is also possible for a filter cap. in one of the low voltage supplies to be open [it may be noticed as it will be pregnant.]to cause a no operation condition. so good luck and think safety.
