Hello

i need to know exact model and part number (located on back of notebook) in order to evaluate this issue, to obtain a resolution for you.

start up computer, press F2 to get to BIOS set up
is the hard disk drive recognised in the BIOS set up ?

if so, i would reinstall the OS with the cd recovery media you have

if you dont have that, go to www.restoredisks.com , you can buy for about $30

i look forward to helping you further !

Check the hard drive might be defect or loose from the hard drive connector. If the hard drive is detected in BIOS probably the hard drive is out of order

Operating system not found

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

It seems that either the OS is corrupt on your system or the Hard Disk Drive is not getting detected.

To confirm if the hard disk drive is detected you need to go into the BIOS and check if it shows the Drive present.

Just check if the Drive is present in BIOS. If you find the Drive in BIOS You can try to re-install the Operating system using the OS disk.

For any clarification or assistance feel to revert

Hello,

I recommend going into your BIOS and making sure your system is detecting the hard drive(s). If not, recheck your cable connection at the drive and the board. If it is detecting the drive, make sure it is set to be one of the boot drives(I would make it 2nd to the CD-ROM) and reboot your server. If you get the same error, you will need to reinstall the os.
Good Luck

Having dropped my Samsung R530 (nothing obviously broken), when I try to stsrt it it is coming up with the message:- "Boot From AHCI CD ROM: Operating System not found" Any ideas?

Hi tony prother,

"Boot From AHCI CD ROM: Operating System not found" error is because the system is booting the CDROM of the system and its not detecting an installed Operating System. You need to check if the system still detects the Hard Drive of your laptop on the Bios page. To go to BIOS reboot the computer and tap F2 on the system and on the bios page check if the hard drive is detected then go to then BOOT Tab select the hard drive as the first boot priority and reboot the system.

If the hard drive is not detected it might be damage, you can get intouch to a local tech to check and backup the files.

Thanks for using Fixya.

When my laptop boots up it says operating system not found

Not good. Check your bios for correct drive for boot up, but it sounds like yoru hard drive is not being read....

Boot won't read

Operating system not found. Check hard drive for loose connection power and interface. Reseat it to be sure (power cord disconnected and unit totally turn off before you reseat it).

Go to Bios setting check whether hard drive is been detected or re-detect it to refresh. If harddrive is not detected. Check again for loose wiring. If now detected, reboot it should until the end of operating system loading.

If it say again " requires sytem disk" ,corrupted OS --- repair or reinstall.

sounds like the hard drivemag-glass_10x10.gif has either taken a dump and is not working or maybe the connection to it has been lost. Either way I think you have hard drive problems. When booting keep an eye out for where the hard drives are detected and see if the computer sees the hard drive.

This is caused by :-
1. Your hard disk has failed.
2. Your BIOS settings for the hard drive has been altered
3. Your hard drive has been wiped or someone or a virus program that has deleted critical files.

Go into your BIOS setup to check the hard disk settings, if possible see if it will auto detect the hard drive.

Also boot up with a DOS disk run FDISK to see if you can detect a hard disk, partitions etc.

If the hard disk appears OK you may be able to do a disk repair, most likely you would need to re-install the operating system and the laptop drivers for video, audio, LAN, modem etc.

This issue showed that the harddrive is not found. Try to fixed hardware connecting from harddrive and the board.
did you see hard drive detected in the bios at start? if your are sure that the connection cable is firmly fixed and the hard drive still not detected by the bios. so there is a problem with your harddrive. you should/may replace that.On the other hand if in case your hard drive is detected and still thesame problem encountered. then, you should reinstall your operating system by inserting the original operating system recovery/ windows bootable installation disc to refresh the state of your system.

any problem srising this solution please notify me.
