Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop
My LCD of Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop Computer PC Notebook has broken, how can I buy a new one and change it?
Replacement LCDs are available for just about every make and model of laptop on Ebay, generally for a reasonable price.
However, installing a new LCD in a laptop can be a difficult operation; I highly recommend having the installation done in a repair shop.
If you do decide to try installing a new LCD yourself, here are the basics:
There are several screws you need to remove. On the bottom of the computer are generally between two and six screws that hold the power/hinge bezel in place, as well as the keyboard. Remove these screws and CAREFULLY pull up the bezel. The keyboard may also have screws under that bezel, remove those before lifting the keyboard (usually doesn't have to be completely disconnected, just shifted aside, but don't stress the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard too much).
With the bezel and keyboard out of the way, you should see a cable that connects the motherboard to the LCD through one of the LCD hinges. Disconnect that cable.
The plastics covering the LCD should have a handful of rubber or plastic 'plugs', between four and ten of 'em, with small screws located underneath each. Remove these screws, then very gently use a small flathead screwdriver to pry the LCD plastics apart at the seams along the side.
Once the front plastics are removed from the LCD, disconnect the long, slim PCB that rests beneath the actual screen. Remove the screws that hold the screen to the mounting brackets along its sides, and the LCD should be loose. Carefully lift it from the rear plastic cover, and you'll see a ribbon cable connected to the display. Release the clips that hold the ribbon cable in place on the screen, and you're ready to put in the new LCD!
I know its long and circuitous, but repeat the steps above in reverse to install the new screen.
Hope this helps!
