When ever i plug any camera device or even the iphone to my compaq laptop it says that the camera cant be detected. to check connection and try again. i have tried swithching the ports, re installing software. nothing works. it works on the pc i have though.

This model Compaq laptop does not have a built-in WEB cam.

To use video call with Skype you need to purchase an USB WEBcam, connect the WEBcam into the Compaq laptop's USB port and install the WEBcam driver that came with the WEBcam.
Then configure Skype - select the WEBcam and mic.

5. Also see the general tab to check the "service status". If it does not say "started" then click the start button to start the service and connect your phone again and click apply.

1. Go to My Computer >> Manage and click Device Manager in the left tab.
2. Click Portable Devices >> Apple iPhone >> Uninstall
3. Unplug and plug your iPhone, now wait for windows to re recognize your iphone [ In Device Manager, you will see the new recognized Apple Iphone ]
4. Press F5 to refresh your windows explorer and your Apple iPhone will show up with a camera icon.
If for some reason none of the above methods work, but you want to copy camera taken pictures but there was no way to do it.
Follow the procedure to do the same, make sure that your iphone is connected to your computer with iphone data cable
1. Download DiskAid which is a free iPhone Explorer [ Lets you explore your iphone files and folder ]
2. Install and Run DiskAid it will automatically detect iphone and navigate to the camera photos folder on your iphone
root >> var >> mobile >> media >> DCIM >> 100APPLE or XXXAPPLE folder.

3. Right click any image and select Copy to PC and select a folder to copy these images, that's it . This way you can copy the images from iphone camera roll folder when you iphone does not show in my computer.

What cant be detected? That error usually means that either a peripheral device (such as a printer, camera or MP3 player) or an internal board (such as a modem, network card, or keyboard or touch pad) is not being recognized by the machine. You have not supplied us with vital information to assist you. To give you the specific fix we would need Make & Model of your laptop, what operating system you have loaded (which version of Windows or is it one of the Linux systems) but I will try to help you narrow it down.

First disconnect all wires from the laptop except the power cord. Now turn on the power switch. If you get an error, come back and tell us exactly what it says.

Then start plugging in your peripheral devices (printer, USBs, network, camera, MP3) ONE device at a time. Each time you plug one device give it a minute or two to see it that new device is detected. Check the Device Manager. See if the camera is on the list - if not, you'll need to re-install the driver or the camera itself is bad. Try connecting another camera with a USB connection - see if that works. If it does, then the built in camera is bad.

Most Bluetooth devices can connect only to one device. Make sure that it is not paired with any other device. Then again, if that doesn't work then, probably the Bluetooth device is non-compatible.

did u get an installation cd with the new mouse.

Yes ... Go to Start - Control Panel - System - Device Manager to see if there are any hardware conflicts or any other issues.

Disconnect iPhone and close iTunes.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools.

Under Administrative Tools, Go to Services and look for 2 services.

Apple Mobile Device
iPod service

Both services should be started If they are not, start both of them.

Start iTunes and wait for it to finish loading.

Reconnect iPhone.

may there is realy a defect on that card. just try use another card and see the result.
