How can I get rid of the boot up and shutdown noise. It is an annoying Formula 1 race car noise - wakes the house when I come home and turn off the phone. Thanks Greg

To find out if it is an electrical thing that is causing it, kill the power to your home when it appears. If it stops then you know it something electrical. Then turn the power back on and turn off appliances one at at time till you find the one that makes it go. If it's not affected by killing the power it could be pipes or some other appliance that is doing it.
You have not mentioned which model of Bose. But anyway simple rule of thumb is make sure your amplifier output power does not exceed the speakers rated power. Speaker power rating can be higher than the amplifier . That way you won't damage the speakers. Just remember you cannot use a domestic speaker system for a commercial purpose because they are not designed to throw sound over a great distance and cannot generate very high sound pressure levels like professional speakers do. You may not achieve any satisfaction and in return may damage the speakers by turning up the volume very high. Its like trying to race with a domestic car in a formula 1 race !!!!!.Its a loosing battle all the way.
I had the same problem, that is how my problems with my beloved Phillips wake-up light started, the clock froze after having it for a little over 1 year..nothing worked so I gave up on it. I had it unplugged it for a few months over the summer.. when I turned it on again and the clock was unfrozen..?! Of course not fix-it solution for you.. But now it has new problems: It acts very strange, turns the light on and off by itself and sometimes gets this very annoying humming/buzzing sound.. which is gone when i "re-boot" it. I am sending it in for repair this week. I simply can't survive the winter months without it!

Your iPod Touch is not broken! You accidentally invoked one of the accessibility features which zooms the screen. This happens when you double-tap the screen with three fingers simultaneously. To undo it, double-tap again and drag three fingers up or down.
You can turn this feature off by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom.
