Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Our air conditioning was working during the day. when one family member turned the air up from 72 to 75 she saw the screen process what she wanted and walked away. when another family member went to turn it down, the screen was off. i have a honeywell visionPRO thermastat but no air conditioning at the moment. is my air conditioning not working because the honeywell theromastat needs to be trouble shot or is it not working because the machine that produces the air conditioning itself not working? and if so, how do i trouble shoot my honeywell thermostat?

If the outdoor temps are cooler than inside, AC's are not made for this and will not work well if that is the situation, it floods liquid to the compressor which will overload. will it reset within 20 mins of going off? if so the board/stat are suspect, if not the compressors the villain and its tired and cant handle the other than design condition of 95 F outdoor/80F indoor.

What Size Air Conditioner Do You Need?

Air conditioning is not an exact science. There are many variables that can affect the way an air conditioning system performs. Also there are many factors that can affect the size of the air conditioner that you need. What I want to get into next is the problems that can show up from an air conditioning system being either too big or too small.

You have three estimates for central air conditioning in your house? Each estimate quotes you a different size unit. What do you do? Buy the middle one because they are between the other two? You may be happy and maybe not. Let me explain how this works and what the results are of not getting it right.

If the air conditioning unit is undersized, this is actually the lesser of the two evils. If your system is too small the worst that can happen is not nearly as bad. An air conditioning system that is too small will just not quite keep up on a very hot day. This usually is not that noticeable because as long as there is a difference between the inside and the outside temperatures you will still be happy. If the house is 80 degrees on a 95 degree day, you still feel rather cool in the house. The other advantages to the under sized air conditioning system is that you still get very good dehumidification on a mild rainy day when you still want some cooling and everyday that you are running the air conditioner you are saving money. Yes, even if the air conditioner is running longer, you are still saving money because it is using less power. The efficiency of the slightly undersized system will be much higher than the oversized system.

If your central air conditioning system is too big for the space being cooled you are actually worse off than if it was too small. Yes too large of a system creates some major problems! If your system has too much capacity and cools your house off too quickly, you will not get he secondary effect of that an air conditioner is designed to give you. The second benefit of your system is to dehumidify the air. If your system can cool the air very rapidly before it has time to take the water out of the air, you will not have a comfortable house. This also goes for any other building. Have you ever entered a store and it felt like you just walked into a refrigerator? That is because the equipment is so large that it is cooling the air, but not removing the water out of the air. The effect is a very uncomfortable cool. This can happen in homes, but usually to a lesser degree. The discomfort may not be that pronounced, but it will not be as comfortable as it could be.

So, as you can see size really does matter when it comes to air conditioning. The oversized system will give you an uncomfortable cool and waste energy at the same time. Neither of these things are something that you want. The undersized system may allow the temperature to creep up a bit on a very hot day, but will save energy and give great comfort most of the time. The ideal sizing is for the unit to be running constantly on the hottest day of the year and barely be able to keep up. When you are shopping for central air conditioning make sure that you tell the salesperson what you want and insist on seeing their heat loss/gain calculations for your building. No one can guess at what you need and do it correctly. Making sure you have the right central air conditioning for your house or building will make you comfortable and happy for many years to come!

Portable Air Conditioning great portable air cooling

Portable air conditioning offers you the convenience of mobility. All you have to do is roll the portable air conditioner to the room in which it's needed. Install an exhaust hose out a window or other opening (everything you need is provided) and turn it on. The installation process for these units is very simple. These portable air conditioning units are built small enough to be very mobile and are supplied with wheels for easy movement. A portable air conditioner will also work very well in apartment situations where you will often find a window unit is unacceptable.

Portable air conditioners are very unique in that they are portable and can be easily moved to different locations in your home or business. They can be a highly effective way to either help out an existing HVAC system in one room or cool a single room entirely. They are also one of the best ways to cool a room or area without having to install a window mounted unit.

These air conditioners use a compressor and Freon to cool just like normal air conditioning. They are very effective in cooling rooms and to keep the humidity low. Like normal air conditioners portable units extract hot air that must be vented. That is why they need to have the exhaust hose to the outside. These units can cool air as well as air conditioning done with window air conditioners. However they do not require installation like conventional window air conditioners this makes them very convenient for seniors or physically challenged people. Most portable air conditioners are supplied with a window kit. This kit contains exhaust hoses that will work in any window: double-hung, casement, awning or slider. Because they vent through an opening like a window they require no permanent mounting like window air conditioning.

Portable air conditioners are a very good cooling option for those who can't use the more conventional air conditioning methods. Remember though that this type of unit is not as efficient as most window units or conventional air. So while they may make your environment cooler, it won’t turn your tent into a room at the local hotel.

So as you can see these air conditioning units have some great advantages over other types of air conditioning. They are a great alternative for unique applications where central air or conventional window units are either unfeasible or too expensive. During special events, portable air conditioning can also be a great way to keep guests or equipment cool and comfortable. Always be aware though that because portable air conditioning will remove moisture from the air, they will also need to be drained occasionally similar to a dehumidifier.

Does your application warrant a permanent air conditioner of some form or should you just use a portable one? There are some interesting things to consider when making that choice. Weigh out all of the different options and make that decision based on what will best suit your needs.

I have Onida split AC but in night it is making lot of sound. I am not able to sigh any reason any help in this regards would be appreciated Regards, ashutosh

It might be making equal noise in the day too and you are not able to notice it due to the already existing noise polution during the day.

This is exactly like you could watch the stars on the sky during day time too sitting inside a deep well.

Please check the padding on the compressor bottom and ensure that the compressor is fixed without any chance of moving while in running condition.

Please check whether the compressor is grounded and you get a shock when you touch the AC unit. Please ensure that the earth is connected properly.

If the compressor is defective and the inside springs are also not in original tight condition the unit will make noise even if there is cooling.

(HVAC) Furnace Not Igniting Quickly

Make sure a back draft in the flue is not happening. Wind can blow it out until the flue heats up. The flame sensor may not be close enough to the burner flame. It may be weak and need to be replaced or if its an optical one it may be dirty and not see the flame very well. Its not wasting much gas but it puts extra wear and tear on the gas controls, is noisy, and, as you said, blows cold drafty air. A gas control system that has issues of any kind is not real safe. It needs to get fixed.

Coleman rooftop unit ac only.

These units should run in higher ambient conditions within limits. If your unit shuts down with an ambient temperature of 95°F there is a possibility that the system may have a slight over charge of refrigerant in the system or a slight undercharge. This can be easily checked under running conditions by checking the superheat of the gases returning to the compressor. You may also want to check the current draw and the voltage supply during these conditions that are causing the system shut down.

Friedrich air conditioning - inside unit ice build up

Hi, Reduced air flow, low on freon or being continuously run during cooler weather such as at night. Some people turn their thermostat on 60 thinking that it will help get it cooler faster. They freeze up at night and don't get a chance to thaw during the day. It needs set no lower than 75 or so. The evaporator may be dirty. Don't know a lot about your particular unit but if the outside unit has the compressor and refrigerant lines running to it, The large refrigerant line should sweat all the way to the compressor if its fully charged. Please rate me if I have helped. Good luck kstfas
