I am able to turn my camera on, and as it does so there are some strange noises, maybe like the lense is having difficulty moving in and out (though it seems to be moving without issue). Once on i have a blank, black screen. i can press the button to view my pictures and i have no issue with viewing pictures already on the memory card. when i press the take picture button, all i get are the strange noises and sometimes a red, sort of lighting bolt, arrow in the top right corner. I dont know whats wrong with my camera, let along fix it. PLEASE HELP!
I was having the same problem. Most of the time a black display / pictures. When I did get it to take a picture, it was severely underexposed. I downloaded v1.1 of the firmware via the Olympus Master 2 software. So far, exposure is right and no more black screens. This was an intermittent problem that happened after like 6 months of pictures, so I severely doubt it was a manufacturing problem. It acted like a software bug to me, so the firmware solution does make sense to me and seems to work so far.

The Olympus FE-220 will not deface your photos by scrawling digits across them. However, the data is stored with each file. Just about any photo viewer should be able to show you this data. Depending on the program and printer, you can print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back. Refer to the documentation for whatever program you're using to print. If you print directly from the camera, the instructions are in the "Printing pictures" section of the Advanced Manual (page 30 in my copy).
i am having the same problem with mine , its been like it for the past year now. i am only 14 so my parents think i have dropped it bu i havn't i need a soloution quick because i love taking photos of me and my friends. the olympus f3-330 it a really good cam' but now it doesnt even switch on or turn off . ! you cannot take pictures and the screen comes up in lines and make a beeep beeep noise then the lense goes in and out : / .
i dont think so..i think this is a generic problem for the fe210 just like mine. it would not shoot and only black screen in the view finder... my brother in law brought it to a technician and they replaced the lense assembly.
